RTOS/AM5728: Data communication between TI-RTOS and PRU

Part Number:AM5728

Tool/software:TI-RTOS

I am developing PRU-ICSS and TI-RTOS applications, but now I have a problem about data communication between PRU and TI-RTOS.I don't know how to achieve it.

I readed the code and documents in pdk_am57xx_1_0_7/packages/ti/drv/pruss/test and pdk_am57xx_1_0_7/packages/ti/drv/pruss/example, and knew the transmission and reception of events but I am still in doubt about big data communication between PRU and RTOS.

So have there any clear tutorials or samples about big data communication between PRU and TI-RTOS?

Please help me.

Thank you.

TLC59116: About output voltage vs LED current

$

Part Number:TLC59116

Our customer are evaluating TLC59116 at the following conditions.

[Conditions]

VLED=4.3V(TBD)

VCC=5.0V

ILED=30mA(max)

VF=4.0V(max)

They would like to know use “Output voltage = 0.3V” because they have to decrease the heat of LED block.

According to Figure2 of datasheet, we guess that TLC59116 can sink the LED current 25mA at the output voltage is 0.3V and 30mA at the output voltage is 0.5V.

(Unfortunately, it is higher than the output voltage that they expect.)

Is my understanding correct?

If no, could you please let us know the minimum voltage that TLC59116 can sink 30mA?

Kanemaru

MSP430FR2433: Confirm whether customer use the I2C function when the supply voltage is 1.8V

Part Number:MSP430FR2433

Hi TI Experts,

Please let me confirm the following question.
[Question]
Can customer use the I2C module in MSP430 device when the supply voltage is 1.8V?

I know that they need to supply the 2.0V in order to release the reset. So after power-up, they will change the voltage from 2.0V to 1.8 V and disabled the SVS function to avoid the reset.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Best regards.

CC1101: CC1101 Optional Packet Length

Part Number:CC1101

Hello

I have run into a problem with the packet length of the CC1101. I am using a variable packet length, thus am I making use of the optional length byte. I want to transfer a file of approximately 300KB from the one CC1101 (DeviceA) to the other CC1101 (DeviceB). I am breaking this file into smaller chunks when sending it to the other DeviceB, this device must send ACK if the received packet if CRC is fine otherwise it must NAK to DeviceA. DeviceA must receive this ACK/NAK and the send new chunk or resend the failed chunk. When DeviceB sends the ACK/NAK message the message corrupts when recieved on DeviceA, but when a add another CC1101 (DeviceC) that only have to receive the ACK/NAK messages send by DeviceB the messages does not corrupt.

When debugging on DeviceB I can see that the optional length byte of the packets are not the expected, the value of the optional length byte is my first byte of the payload. Even if I read out of the RXBYTES register the value is not the expected length, but the value is consistent if I read it multiple times. it feels like I an issue between switching between TX and RX. Can someone help me with this issue?

BQ2970: Battery protection external to the Battery Pack - required

$

Part Number:BQ2970

Hi,

I am designing a charge controller for usage in Energy Harvesting applications. This charge controller takes power from the solar panel, and charges 3.7V, Li-Ion battery pack (either 1 or 2 cells depending on energy rating requirement). I am pursuing suitable energy harvester ICs that can work with Solar power, but there is no adequate Battery protection mechanisms like over-charge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit, etc. So, I am thinking of using a companion protection IC like BQ2970 that can provide good protections. For easy understanding, I have attached the block diagram of the intended charge controlling application. Battery Pack has in-built protections already, but they are also not adequate. Battery pack is provided by an external vendor, that I don't have much control on it. So, I want to provide protection circuitry external to the battery pack as well.

I have gone through BQ2970 (and its series), but there are some issues with it as below.

  1. I need over-charge protection of 4.2V for my Li-Ion battery, whereas BQ2970 has 4.275V min. 3.85V for BQ29706 is much lower than the required 4.2V.
  2. BQ2970 is actually meant for protection within the battery pack. However I need protection external to the battery pack. Kindly check below attached block diagram.
  3. BQ2970 requires external MOSFETs. Our preference is having internal MOSFETs, though this is not a hard requirement.
  4. BQ2970 does not seem to fit the protection requirement as per the below intended application (in the block diagram).
  5. BQ29700 has Over-discharge cut-off voltage of 2.8V. Once it has cut-off at this voltage, the battery will get charged again based on the solar power. Once it charges to ~3.7V, we want to connect the battery to the load again. I am terming this as Load Re-connect voltage. Such Load re-connect mechanism is not there in BQ2970.
  6. We want the IC to have charging/discharging ratings up to at least 0.5A.

Can you suggest any suitable IC that can resolve above issues?

Thanks & Regards,

Vikas Chandra Rao.

AM3703: Flash v1.6 (OMAPFlash.exe) script halts on Win7 (32bit)

Part Number:AM3703

We have been using the Flash v1.6 tool for years on Windows XP as part of a factory programming station but was finally required to migrate to Windows 7.  With great difficulty, we were able to get the test system to work with Windows 7, 32bit a year ago.  As PC hardware changes and begins to fail, trying to implement this has been extremely difficult with newer PCs, even though the operating system is the same.  I am using the OMAPFlash.exe command line to program the device, but the script halts and eventually times out (after 20 seconds) with no errors.  The location of the timeout may vary every time the script is ran.  I did not see this failure with older hardware (i.e. Dell Optiplex 790), but get this error repeatedly when trying to run with new hardware (i.e. Dell Optiplex 5050)

Windows 7 is the only option these days.  Is there any direct support for the Flash v1.6 tool in Windows 7, or a direct replacement?  I have tried WinXP compatibility mode, but this was no help.

 Command line script:

OMAPFlash.exe ^

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear Support Team,

we are trying to evaluate Vienna Rectifier based design based on www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-1000. We solved some issues yet, but the GUI will not load.

Let me sum up, what I did until now:

The PC is running Windows 7 64bit in German
.NET Framework 4.7 was already installed
installed Code Composter Studio 7.3.0.00019
fixed some proxy issues
installed GUI Composer Runtime 6.1.0.2 from the CCS App Center
installed controlSUITE 3.4.7 including powerSUITE 1.7.0.00
run F28377D Project from he TI Resource Explorer classic
main.cfg PowerSuite window stays blank

Code Composer Studio gave warnings, so i installed compiler 6.4.6 and XDCtools 3.31.00.24
-> no effect

according to https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/t/600473:
- open with XGCONF -> no effect
- switched powerSUITE versions -> only 1.7.0.00 worked to run
- same results with different projects
- GUI Composer Test App is running
- chrome debugging gives error as follows:

Installing suggested updates an Eclipse GMF Framework didn't change the result

TPS564201: Short circuit on EMC immunity tests

$
0
0

Part Number:TPS564201

Hello,

we have trouble with the TPS564201 and the UCC3813D-2 in EMC immunity tests for the standart EN61000-4-3. We use the TPS564201 to generate our logic voltage of 3.3V from 12V input.
There are 3 PCBs using this converter. Some of these PCB are built into a fridge, so they are surrounded by a metal housing connected to PE.

Within the first test the PCBs were not mounted into the fridge and supplied by a 12V battery. In this setup (on a table) we had no problems with the immunity test, everything worked fine fine over all frequencies (30MHz-1GHz).
The test is done with an influence with a field strength of 10V/m.

Mounted to the fridge the power supply of 12V is done by our own designed Mainboard including a AC/DC Flyback converter with UCC3813D-2.

Our first "little" problem is, that we can see that the power supply breaks down to ~8V for ~1s for some frequencies (150MHz, 200MHz...) over the whole range.
It looks like the UCC3813D-2 shortly stops regulating the voltage sometimes. It is not a big problem because we use a backup battery, that holds the 12V directly if the power supply breaks down.

What i want to ask is, whether there are some known problems with this IC on immunity tests or some solutions to prevent these problems.

Out big problem is the TPS564201. At influence frequencies of 300-320MHz this IC creates a short circuit and breaks down directly. When the power supply breaks down in the same moment,
and the battery supplies the circuit, the IC makes a short circuit to the battery and burns down directly with enormerous currents.
This problem occurs simultaneously on the mainboard and the other PCB that is not mounted into the fridge (TPS564201 in both cases). This second PCB is a Human Machine Interface and placed in front of the fridge door.

All logic parts behind the TPS564201 are unaffected and the boards work again after replacing the TPS564201, so it looks like a short circuit inside the IC.

Here i have the same question. Are there any recommendations for such problems? Do some sensitive pins of the ICs need a special filtering with RC, LC or CLC filers? Or can you see possible other reasons for this behavour?

It would be nice if someone has an idea.

Thanks.

Best regards
Friedrich Ermert

Part Number:CC3200-LAUNCHXL

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I am trying to run aws iot v2.1.0-ti on cc3200 and using windows 10. I have flashed all the correct certificates using the certiflasher tool as per the instruction given in readme_cc3200.md file. I have built the subscribe_publish sample application and generated the.out file. Now while running the application, I keep getting the following error

I tried putting breakpoint before line no 114 in subscribe_publish_sample.c (inside the runAWSClient function), but then after reaching the breakpoint it throws an NTP server error and rest of the execution goes same as before.

My endpoint is correct and i have flashed the correct certificates. In cmd i can view my endpoint by the describe-endpoint command and also list the certificates with list-certificates command.

Can anyone please suggest where I am going wrong? Thanks.
