Part Number:TPS65987D

Hi Team,

I noticed that TPS65987D doesn't has billboard function in itself.

1. Are there any event to let other device know the billboarding timing?

2. In the case using TUSB8044 with TPS65987D, How should we connect these devices to support billboard function?
If there are any example block diagram or schematic, please share it.

ADC128S102QML-SP: Input over VA, effect on reliability and effect on adjacent channel measurements

Part Number:ADC128S102QML-SP

Hi TI,

I have two situations I need some assistance with, one is short term one is long term:

Short term (i.e. I'm going to fix this problem, but I want to know if my near-term measurements are going to have significant errors):

My system has two of the 8 inputs on this ADC connected.  Each line input a series resistance of ~475 ohms, as well as a 100nF shunt capacitance.  The shunt capacitance is very close to the associated input pin.  Whenever I'm sampling one of the inputs, the other input is set to a voltage higher than the rail, such that (assuming the high-side ESD diode is at a 0.3V drop) there is about 4mA of current going into the input pin.  What kind of error to the measurement will this introduce to the channel that is being sampled?  Will the ESD diode current raise the "measured" VA, effectively degrading the reference?  Do you have any insight as to how severe this effect will be?

Long term (I want to run my system for a long time (months to years) under these conditions):

My system will again have two of the 8 inputs on this ADC connected.  One of these connections will experience about -6mA of input current for less than 100ms every second (alternatively it could experience +4mA of input current for less than 100ms every second, in case the polarity is important).  The rest of the time the ESD diodes should not have any current flow.  The datasheet claims an absolute maximum ESD diode current (calls it input current) of 10mA per pin with a 2 pin maximum.  I'm wondering if this condition, less than 10mA but not significantly less, with a duty cycle of 10% would tend to degrade reliability and performance, or if it's likely to cause negligible degradation of reliability or performance.

Thanks,

Max

TPS53622: Question about differences between TPS53622 and TPS53622A

Part Number:TPS53622

Why is there no datasheet for TPS53622 on digikey, mouser, and avnet?  Other parts in the TPS536xx line have full datasheets.  Are you discouraging this part in new designs?

It's on my list of most suitable TPS536xx parts for a current design.

TPS7H1101A-SP: Vout behavior when Vin

Part Number:TPS7H1101A-SP

Hello -

When Vin < Vout(set), how does Vout behave?  For instance, if I have the regulator set to provide 3.3V and Vin<=3.3V, does Vout track Vin?  If so, how close is the tracking, and is it load-current dependent?  My application cannot guarantee that Vin stays greater than Vout(set)+Vdropout, so I am trying to evaluate how the regulator behaves.  Do other functions behave appropriately in this condition? (e.g. current limit, shutdown, etc.).

Thank you,

MSP430I2041: TIDM-SERVER-PWR-MON (tidu454a) : Rosc pin vs accuracy

Part Number:MSP430I2041

TI,

How do we obtain such a low level of %error when using internal Rosc mode for DCO?

tidu454a, page 13, schematic shows 'Rosc' floating?  For internal resistor DCO mode, it should be tied to AVSS.  For external mode, there should be an external resistor to AVSS.

I duplicated the schematic but added an accurate, external resistor but they did not get the same accuracy of < 1% error?

TPS54561: Output current trace width

Part Number:TPS54561

This part is supposed to be able to output up to 5A continuously, but the output SW pin only allows a trace that is 0.32mm thick, this is the thickness of the recommended pad size for the IC footprint.  On 2 oz/ft^2 copper, with external trace layers exposed to air, 0.32mm only allows 1.7A.  So, how is this device supposed to be able to output 5A?

Linux/66AK2G12: U-Boot: SD Card boot Chip Detect

Part Number:66AK2G12

Tool/software: Linux

Hello,

My company is working on the production PCB layout for a new design using the K2G.  We had initially hoped to use the GPMC NAND interface, but discovered that was not supported.  We are now trying to use the SD interface; however, we are using every MCASP0 pin and this conflicts with SD/MMC0 Card Detect line.

In the TRM, table 11-1877 states that the card detect input signal is optional and depends on the system integration and type of connector housing that accomodates the card.

We know that not using the card detect line would make us unable to tell if the card has been inserted or removed, but since this will be the boot media and filesystem storage for the system, we are not worried about a hot-swap condition.

Is the Card Detect line optional for SD Boot (ROM Bootloader AND U-Boot) on MMC/SD Peripheral Zero, and are there any special considerations we need to be aware of?

Thank you,

Jeff

Linux/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM437X: Remove ethernet interface from starterkit devicetree

$

Part Number:PROCESSOR-SDK-AM437X

Tool/software: Linux

I'm designing a board with the AM4378. We started designing based on the AM437x Starterkit and are currently using Linux SDK 4.3.0.5 with a build of the core image. I can't seem to find a working procedure to remove the ethernet connection on 'eth0' (RGMII1) and just use 'eth1' (RGMII2). I followed the steps from the post: http://e2e.ti.com/support/arm/sitara_arm/f/791/t/391961  which made the linux image only see one ethernet connection (eth0) but both ports on the starterkit remained active. Only 'eth0' showed up when I ran ifconfig, but 'eth0' was assigned an IP address regardless of the port I plugged the cable into. For our application we have to use some of the pins associated with RGMII1 for eMMC on MMC1 since that is the only bootable pinout for MMC1 so I have to be able to dissociate those pins from RGMII1.

The section of the devicetree that appears to be relevant is: (starterkit settings)

&mac {
pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep";
pinctrl-0 = <&cpsw_default>;
pinctrl-1 = <&cpsw_sleep>;
dual_emac = <2>;
status = "okay";
};

&davinci_mdio {
pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep";
pinctrl-0 = <&davinci_mdio_default>;
pinctrl-1 = <&davinci_mdio_sleep>;
status = "okay";
};

&cpsw_emac0 {
phy_id = <&davinci_mdio>, <4>;
phy-mode = "rgmii";
dual_emac_res_vlan = <1>;
};

&cpsw_emac1 {
phy_id = <&davinci_mdio>, <5>;
phy-mode = "rgmii";
dual_emac_res_vlan = <2>;
};

The settings I tried following the recommendations in the previously linked post resulted in this section in the file am437x-sk-evm.dts:

&mac {
pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep";
pinctrl-0 = <&cpsw_default>;
pinctrl-1 = <&cpsw_sleep>;
status = "okay";
};

&davinci_mdio {
pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep";
pinctrl-0 = <&davinci_mdio_default>;
pinctrl-1 = <&davinci_mdio_sleep>;
status = "okay";
};

&cpsw_emac0 {
phy_id = <&davinci_mdio>, <4>;
phy-mode = "rgmii";
};

&cpsw_emac1 {
phy_id = <&davinci_mdio>, <5>;
phy-mode = "rgmii";
};

I've also tried reversing the pin order in the cpsw section of the pinmux

What I want, but what I'm clearly not coding correctly is something like:

&mac {
pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep";
pinctrl-0 = <&cpsw_default>;
pinctrl-1 = <&cpsw_sleep>;
status = "okay";
};

&davinci_mdio {
pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep";
pinctrl-0 = <&davinci_mdio_default>;
pinctrl-1 = <&davinci_mdio_sleep>;
status = "okay";
};

&cpsw_emac0 {
phy_id = <&davinci_mdio>, <5>;
phy-mode = "rgmii";
}

UCC28780: Unrealistic Coss allows Mathcad formula to work?

$

0

Part Number:UCC28780

I'm using the Mathcad documents from sluc644.  In the "Neutron..." worksheet there is a test to make sure the 40 ns delay T.DPWML_H (plus driver delays) is greater than the actual circuit rise time at the switching node (T.rise_max).  The test works fine in the original worksheet, but only because the calculation for C.sw_T (total switch node capacitance) uses a fixed value of 40 pF for C.oss_Q_T (the time-based Coss for the primary switch FET).

I can't find any FETs, GaN or Si, which have this low a time-based Coss.  Typical GaN FETs seem to run more like 200 - 300 pF, and that causes the T.DPWML_H test to fail.  It is suspicious that the C.oss_Q_T in the worksheet is fixed at 40 pF rather than being voltage-dependent.  It's like someone stuck 40 pF in there to make the formula work.  This affects other calculations too.

To get around this should I run the UCC28780 with SET = 5V to select a Si switch even though I'm using GaN?  Will that provide enough delay on T.DPWML_H and not cause other problems?

Thanks for any help.

BQ34Z100: Learning Cycle Problems

I have a 8S10P (28.8V 26Ahr) pack with a bq34z100.  I tried to follow the documentation but some of the terminology doesn't seem to match bqstudio 1.3.80.  Is "UPDATE_STATUS" now "LEARNED_STATUS"?  The RUP_DIS, VOK, aand QEN all seem to behave correctly.  The LEARNED_STATUS was 4 at the start, 4 during charge, 5 during discharge, and 6 once VOK was green again.  I never saw any updates to the RA tables at any time.  I was discharging at C/5 (5 amps).  I use the manufactures recommendation of chemistry selection Samsung ICR18560-26H.  Attached are the log files.  I'm sure I missed a setting.

LAUNCHCC3220MODASF: Is 1MB internal flash enough or do I need external flash?

$

Part Number:LAUNCHCC3220MODASF

Hi,

I have a custom board which has the CC3220MODASF module mounted. This module has 1MB flash included so I did not add any further external flash.

Now I am wondering if this 1MB is enough for a "normal" application?

I know it hardly depends on my application. Here is briefly what I am doing:

  • Headless wifi-provisioning over HTTP
  • MQTT Client with security using certificates (AWS IoT)
  • OTA software updates
  • UART communication with another MCU on the board.
  • Basic data storage such as serial numbers, application states etc, no images or so.

Thanks for your advice.

Best,

Henry

DP83867IR: IBIS Model

Part Number:DP83867IR

Hello,

I am trying to do some simulations using this DP83867 GPHY, but it seems like it has an incorrect output type on the TX_CTRL signal.  I believe this should be an input signal not an output signal.  Also, one of the datasheets has it as an input, while the other has it as an output. See DP83867CS and DP83867IR.

Can someone please fix and update this model?

Thank you,

Will Alarcon

Part Number:MSP430F167

Hi

I got a new mac laptop and put Parallels + Windows 10 on it. USB2ANY driver based GUIs work just fine. But MSP430F167 based GUI doesn't work.

I've read a few threads on this topic and installed all the drivers from here: http://www.ti.com/tool/mspds. But it still doesn't work -- In the device manager, I see a warning when MSP430 is connected and I'm unable to update using the drivers downloaded from the above link.

Could somebody please help?

Thank you,

CCS/MSP432P401R: Memory map prevented reading 0x1F...

$

Part Number:MSP432P401R

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I'm currently trying to program an FFT algorithm onto my MSP432 and am running into an error in which half way through the program, several of the variables have values assigned to locations outside of the SRAM_DATA. Specifically, SRAM_DATA is limited between 0x20000000 and 0x20010000 while the variables are starting in location 0x1FFFFFB8. Because of this faulty assignment, I receive the error "Memory map prevented reading 0x1F..."

As a beginner, I'm not very familiar with memory management for different types of variables. What determines the memory location in which variables are stored? How is this dependent on the type of variable it is?

One strange occurrence is when I reduce the FFT length from 2048 (taking up 16% of flash and 3% of ram) to 1024, the algorithm works perfectly. I understand that increasing the array size enough will eventually run out of memory, but I should be nowhere near that limit. I've also noticed that declaring the variable as static removes the prevented reading error from that variable, but still errors later in the program. Any advice is much appreciated!

TMDSIDK437X: Warm Reset output on the FT2232H USB to JTAG converter.

Part Number:TMDSIDK437X

Hello,

I am looking for information on this part of the dev kit:

The IC we see on the left side is the FT2232H USB to JTAG converter. What i don't understand is what the warm-reset is used for and how it is triggered from the GPIOs of the FT2232H. There is an EPROM connected to the converter so I am thinking that the logic is probably programmed in there.

In brief, I am trying to understand what this logic is and why it is there?

Thank you for any information you might have, if you need more info from me, do not hesitate to ask.
