Part Number:AM3359

Dear Experts,
I am trying to find out some info about the PDN impedance requirements for the most critical processor power rails.
For the most recent processor, TI gives same guidelines about the max impedance vs frequency but for this processor couldn't find anything.

Thanks,
Oscar

Compiler/EK-TM4C1294XL: Socket Support for lwip

Part Number:EK-TM4C1294XL

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

Has anyone successfully compiled the Sockets API of lwip in the TM4C1294? If so, would you be able to share how you made it work?

This question has been posed several times in various ways over the past few years on this forum, with conflicting answers. Some posts claim it can be done rather easily (see the third reply here, and the seventh reply here). Although, I cannot attain the same success they claim. On the other hand, the second reply found here seems to imply that it is not possible (or at least not practical)...

Would anybody be able to clear up the confusion? If it actually is reasonably do-able, what are the steps?

My current starting point is the enet_s2e project, then defining LWIP_SOCKET to 1 in lwipopts.h. Then a bunch of compiler errors.

Part Number:BQ76PL455A-Q1

Hello TI Experts,

I am evaluating BQ76PL455 now and have below doults need your help:

1.The isolation must be two sides like ADUM5402?  Can I use one side ADUM2402?

But if I use isolation like ADUM2402,when BQ76PL455 is in shutdown mode, their will be no input voltage to ADUM2402,the BQ76PL455 cannot be woke up~

So must I use isolations like ADUM5402? So what's the function of NPN? Is it necessary to use NPN?

2.Is it necessary to put an inverter between BQ76PL455's Wake up  pin and Isolation? Can I know why? I see their's somebody do like this but I have no idea why to do it~

LMP91200: VOUT - VCM consistently off by a few mV - Why?

Part Number:LMP91200

I am prototyping a pH measurement circuit on a breadboard.  I have the circuit functionally working, but I have a somewhat consistent error that appears in my measurement, and it is coming from my LMP91200.

In order to remove as many influences as possible, I have disconnected the output of the LMP91200 from any load except my voltmeter.  I have also used a low-impedance source to apply the input voltage to the LMP91200.  I've used both a lab bench power supply  (Rigol DP831) and a 9V battery with a resistor divider.  Both give the results described below.

When I place a voltage across the INP/VCM pin, I expect that the same voltage (albeit buffered) is developed across the VOUT/VOCM pins.  However, I find that there is about a 4mV error, with the VOUT/VOCM pins being below the input voltage.

I varied the voltage from -0.5V to +0.5V, and I measured the voltage at the input and at the output.  The circuit is shown below.  VREF is set at 1.024 V (measured at 1.032 - the precise voltage is not critical to this question)  The graph below shows the results - I am getting a consistent 3-5 mV drop across most of the measurement range.  Everything is measured using recently calibrated voltmeters.  Swapping the meters yields the same results.

Although no bypass caps are shown in the schematic, I did try adding them and it had no effect.  (I only tested a few voltages, not the entire range).

I also tried replace the chip.  Behavior is identical.

Can anyone advise me on why this voltage drop is appearing?  Although I could add a fudge factor in my calculations, I am very nervous to base a design on this chip if I can't get it to perform as the datasheet claims.  What am I doing wrong?

Thank you,

-Ron

TMS320F28027: I2C trouble on TMS320F28027 piccolo

Part Number:TMS320F28027

I have a customer looking for confirmation on the I@C hardware issue below:

We had some issues with the I2C that seems to be resolved. Some timing issues, STOP bit not being set correctly and adding the correct pull up resistors on the I2C bus seems to fix the issue. We have not had any issues since we added these fixes. The code is based on the EEPROM example in Control suite. While debugging this issue I found a thread in the forum that states an issue with the I2C was resolved by using different pins on the micro. This concerns me because we are using the same pin 28 in our application. Can you verify that there are no I2C hardware issues with the piccolo parts using pin 28?

Issue with Uniflash

Uniflash issue

I have two MSP430FR6989 eval boards. I want to copy the image from one board onto the other.
First I use Uniflash in 'Memory' mode to export the memory in COFF format.
Uniflash (version 4.3.0.1802) writes the file to disk (it's only 64K even though I'd ask to get the full 128K, so I assume there's some compression involved).
I then switch boards, (automatically detected by Uniflash) and try to flash the COFF file.
Once I hit 'Load', Uniflash shows a splash screen that says "Load Program, Please Wait... Executing Startup Scripts: MSP430" ... and then hangs. Cancel doesn't work.
It DOES generate a log file ...

My first question is: is this the correct procedure to copy an image from one board to another, and if so .. what would cause this to make Uniflash hang?

The logfile contains info from various attempts .. and I seem to get different log info in different attempts.
The latest attempt wrot ethe following to the log file:

MSP430F1121: Recommendation for upgraded BSL programmer (Using MSP430G2 Launchpad)

$

Part Number:MSP430F1121

I have decided to try with the MSP430G2 Launchpad and also with BSL-Rocket (which I may ask about seperately). I have a few questions, listed  below, related to what i am thinking that I need to do.

1) Since I am using the MSP430F1121 part (I confirmed that it is not the A part) as a target, and the Launchpad with MSP430G2231 as my programmer, should I be compiling the code for the G2231 or for F1121 in CCS? I'm a little confused about that.

2) I am using slaa535a as a guideline to program my device, and I did get the sample Launcpad BSL interface code provided with the document to compile, however the doc says that the MSP430 Flasher should be used to flash the firmware into the G2231. Is this still valid or can I flash the firmware using CCS v8?

- I assume that this only needs to be done once.

3) I am trying to use the deprecated BSLDEMO2.exe and also the BSLDEMO-2.01c.exe (suggested by George Hug)to program my F1121 part, however, I am getting the following errors:

RTOS/AWR1642: FOV

Part Number:AWR1642

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hi,

please find inline queries.

Could you please elaborate what you mean by "FOV(Field of view) of AWR1642 boost to be 50 degrees and 15 degrees for short range coverage(80m)."

ans:we want to maintain short range that is 80m but want to limit field of view to be 50 degrees.

Will you develop your custom software or will you be re-using some of the software?

ans: we are using SRR demo code provided by ti on AWR1642 BOOST but want to do software changes to meet above requirement.

Let's assume you will use the OOB SDK demo.

The demo sends (x,y) detected point information for +/-60deg to the host through uart.

It is possible for the host gui to limit display of points only in smaller FOV such as +/-50deg or +/-30deg

ans: yes it is possible in gui.But we want to do it in radar operational level. The reason is,instead of uart,if other interfaces are connected(CAN ..etc) ,Objects beyond 50 deg FOV are still coming in CAN logs. Main objective is to decrease FOV (still maintaing 80m range and without HARDWARE change i.e still using AWR1642BOOST).

K Subrahmaniam

OPT3101: Question on how radiant intensity/FOV of illumination LED affects range

$

Part Number:OPT3101

I read the OPT3101 datasheet and the "Introduction to Time-of-Flight Optical Proximity Sensor System Design" app note, and I'm still wondering how LED's with different radiant intensities and FOV will affect max range of the system. For example, the LED used in the app example was the SFH 4550 with radiant intensity of 1100mW/sr and FOV of 6 deg, but the SFH 4650 has an equivalent output power of 180mW, but only a radiant intensity of 90mW/sr and greater FOV of 30 deg. I did not find any equations in the app notes/datasheet that take this into account when computing max range, but I'm new to optics and TOF, so maybe I missed something.

WL1837MOD: RTTT communication issue with Target board

Part Number:WL1837MOD

My customer is seeing the below issue when trying to use the RT3 tool with their target platform connected to the SDMMC adapter board. When they use the SDMMC board and COM8 they are able to connect and control WL8.  They can always connect to WL8 device via RT3 but can’t get the MAC FW version on their target HW.

Below are scope shots of the TI development board and their product on boot up.

This is how the TI WiFi Development board with plug in WiFi module looks on power up, 1 second.

Purple is 3.3V line from USB cable, blue is WiFi Enable line, yellow is IRQ line from WiFi module. IRQ is normally low after this. The transmit control works when the boot up looks like this. Transmit power can be turned On & Off, and the channel can be selected.

SP WiFi lines on power up, 4 seconds. SP not connected to the TI development board at this time.

Purple is 3.6V power, blue is WiFi Enable line, yellow is IRQ line from WiFi module.

The Enable line doesn’t rise high enough, only 0.28V.

To enter debug mode and allow transmit control the IRQ line must go high before the Enable line. Here it does but the Enable line isn’t high enough.

Transmit control is not possible when SP is connected to the TI program running on a laptop via a 1.8V USB dongle. We can connect but not control the channel and transmit.

SP WiFi lines on power up, same as previous scope shot but after 10 seconds.

Purple is 3.6V power, blue is WiFi Enable line, yellow is IRQ line from WiFi module.

At 5.5 seconds the IRQ toggles low and WiFi Enable goes high.

After 10 seconds the Enable and IRQ lines stay high, with occasional strobing on the IRQ.

To enter debug mode and allow transmit control the IRQ line must go high before the Enable line. Here the IRQ line drops low when the Enable line goes high. This may not be valid to enter debug mode.

Transmit control is not possible when SP is connected to the TI program running on a laptop via a 1.8V USB dongle. We can connect but not control the channel and transmit.

At boot when IRQ goes High, does it go low once the EN line goes high? Or is there a command sent to the module from the host to force it low?

When do the SDIO_Dx lines need to be disabled? Before the boot process, or are they needed for some basic commands at start up?

 Thanks,
Charles

ADS122U04EVM: Gerber Files/Altium Design Files and Shielding Question

$

Part Number:ADS122U04EVM

Hello,

I am finalizing a PCB design with the ADS122U04.  It would be very helpful if I could receive the Gerber files for the EVM.  I in particular want to review the Ground partitions.  I am debating between a single Ground Pour on a 4layers board or having 2 Ground pours AGND and DGND.  I have a BLE device also on the PCB and on our first prototype when we increased the output power of the BLE device we could clearly see the 2.4GHz noise on the output of the ADS122xxx when viewing the data through a FFT.

I am putting a grounded shield over the ADC circuitry to help alleviate this on this 2nd version and I have moved the BLE module to the other side of the PCB.

A general question I would have about the shield is whether I should attempt to create a shield that would also cover the terminal block where the 4 wires from the bridge come into the unit.  I am using a low profile SMT terminal block that is only 5mm high.  It would seem like it would be ideal to shield the wires as much as possible upon where the cable shielding has been pulled away to bring the individual wires into the system...

Thoughts/Opinions??

Regards,

Frank

Part Number:DS90UB953-Q1

Hello All,

We have a custom board using the DS90UB953 serializer. We are currently having problems trying to get the the serializer to form a stable link with the DS90UB954 EVM even using the ALP software. We currently do not have the sensor connected and are just trying to get a link in synchronous clocking mode over coax. The link has a pattern of sporadic for ~200ms and then drops out for ~400ms. Also I have a few more questions below from my debug thus far.

1. Should the refclock feeding the 954 should be correlated in reconstructed CLKOUT of the Serializer? They are the same frequency and are stable but have no correlation.

2. Do we need to configure any registers to get the initial link between the 954/953?

Thanks,

Part Number:BQ76PL455A-Q1

Dear Sir/Madam:

Please share strategy to use GUI I have read the BQ GUI documents and still have not fully understood.

Details: Modifications were made for TMS570 as listed in TIDM-TMS570BMS guide which were remove R8 and R9, connect pin 38 to nhet002 and pin 39 to nhet00.

However the GUI does not run, there is an error message "Unable to connect to port".

The BQ board is connected to a 12V at TOP and BQ Board J3 is connected to TMS57004 J1 and J2 as listed in TIDM-TMS570BMS guide. However I did not connect the BQ board J6 connector to TMS57004 because if J6 is a thermistor there is no cause to connect. Also, the 16 cell batteries were not connected yet.

What steps must I take to get the BQ GUI working? Given the setup description above and the quick start guide in TIDM-TMS570BMS what am I missing to get this to work?

Please if there is any further information you require to better answer this question.
