66AK2H14: 10GbE Subsystem

Part Number:66AK2H14

Hi

Some questions about the 10GbE interface on the 66AK2H14 :

When looking at the SPRS866G datasheet, paragraph 11.19.1, we can find a reference to 10GBASE-KR, and also XFI, but whitout any other precise information.
When looking at the SPRUHJ5 10Gigabit Ethernet Subsystem User Guide, we get more details : the chip is announced to be compliant with 10GBASE-R and XFI SFF 8077i.
When looking at the SPRUH03A Serdes User Guide, the chip is announced to be compliant with 10GBase-R , 10GBase-KR and also XFI.

1) Since all this documents do not exactly specify the same functionalities, can you confirm :

- that 66AK2H14"XFI()" interface respect the 10GBase-R specification, at the behavioural level, and also at the electrical level
- that 66AK2H14"XFI()" interface respect the 10GBase-KR specification, at the behavioural level, and also at the electrical level
- that 66AK2H14"XFI()" interface respect the XFI SFF 8077i specification, at the behaviourallevel, and also at the electrical level

2) For our current hardware platformn we are going to connect 66AK2H14 from different boards , by 10Gb/s "XFI()" differential pairs running through backplane.
Therefore we are expecting the -KR compliancy to really be operational - electrically - and also behavioural because the training process between driver and receiver will be essential.
Do you see any pitfall to avoid here ?

More specifically, I read (still §11.4) that the -KR compliancy was NOT entirely performed by hardware and thus was requiring a "manual" launch from the user of a dedicated firmware routine.
I understand that some register flags/commands are implemented so that the user can activate this procedure, BUT can you explain which registers are concerned here, and which flags please ?

Another question relates to potential synchronisation requirements : since both 66AKH14 partners are located on different boards, and running different activities, each of them might launch this firmware routine at a very different moment.
==> is there a timing window to respect once one of the 2 partners enters the above-mentioned -KR start-up procedure ?

3) Another question : when connecting 2 different AK2H14 through 10Gb/s XFI links, I guess that using XFIMDIO and XFIMDCLK is not necessary nor usefull nor relevant. Do you agree ?

4) Last : I am a bit surprised to read ( SPRUHJ5 §1.5 : standard compliance statement )  "10/100/1000BASE-T" because as far as I know a single 1000Base-T interface involves transmisison over diff pairs using PAM5 modulation..a.s.o...
Therefore it seems very unlikely that 66AK2H14 SGMII supports electrical hardware compliancy with 1000BASE-T. Can you clarify please ?

With best regards
Bruno

ADCS7476: Datasheet specs regarding t8 (SCLK FE to SDATA high impedance)

Part Number:ADCS7476

I am creating a bus functional model in VHDL to test VHDL source code that interfaces with an ADCS7476. For VDD = 5V, t4 (Data access time after SCLK falling edge (FE)) is 20 ns max and t8 (SCLK FE to SDATA high impedance) is 25 ns max. Does this mean on the 16 SCLK FE, I may have only 5 ns to read the last bit out?

I am a student and new in the field of distributed embedded systems and IoT. I am given a TI LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1 Microcontroller to implement a distributed Embedded System design (IoT) project. I am considering a small design like getting a room temperature using a sensor in the Microcontroller and reading the temperature in smartphones and browsers. I would also like to send signal from mobile phones/browser to the MCU to either turn a buzzer or LED on/off. Please, I need guidance and working codes to use. Thank you.

Part Number:DP83867IR

Hi there,

I have been looking at the datasheet for this product and am confused as to how the pictures conform to the actual settings. Figure 4 is labeled Transmission but has TskewR, which relates to the receiver, and Figure 5 is labeled Receiving bu has TsetupT and TholdT, which relate to the transmitter. This is all very confusing. Could anyone elaborate on how these figures work?

ADC32J44: Setting the “K” Value

Part Number:ADC32J44

My customer has asked the following:

We noticed in the datasheet that K is configurable through SPI. We would like to know what the range of this configuration parameter is. Can we set it to 0 and have only 1 frame per LMFC.

I am not sure on this, but the note in Register 31h seems to indicate that the lowest value is 8. Can you go into more detail concerning the K values and how they relate to the LMFS parameters of JESD204B.

Thanks for your help with this!

Compiler/TMS320F28377S: Need to initialize large arrays

Part Number:TMS320F28377S

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

I need to embed large arrays (12 arrays of 500 const unsigned int each)  containing random data into a program.  The program builds without error, but the arrays are not initialized.  I have tried numerous variations in the .cmd link file but I have not found a combination that works. I am using CCS v6.2.  Any help would be appreciated, or if CCS does not support this I would like to know so that I can begin looking for an alternate way to make my program work..

TPS63051: The V3P3 and PG of the Device will drop unexpectedly.

Part Number:TPS63051

I am using the and the VOUT and PG will drop for a short period of time at changing state of another device the TPS63051 is supplying. The current drawn from this device does not nearly come close to the current limit. the device is not in undervoltage lockout or in thermal shutdown. I have large ceramic caps(2*10uF) on the power rails and around the device(4* 1uF) that is being supplied by the device. Is there any other reasons that the TPS63051 would drop VOUT low for a quick instant when the other device changes states?

Hi,

I am using DAC5311 in our design to drive a capacitive load of up to 300pF. We observed ringing on DAC output which was as high as 30mV.

What is the best way to reduce this ?

TCA9545A: No response on Channel 0-3 side

Part Number:TCA9545A

Hi,

When setting or asking for the active I2C channel the switch responds as expected. However, there is no activity whatsoever on the "channel side" when trying to communicate with devices connected to any of the channels. All channels are stuck at logic high. It's like the pass-gate transistors never turn on and let anything through.

The 2.6 V on the right side should be ok according to the datasheet figure 17 and page 18. I'm not sure about the unused interrupts and unused channels though. Could the pull-up to 3.3 V cause any problems?

LAUNCHXL-CC2650: How to define a PIN as an input or output?

$

Part Number:LAUNCHXL-CC2650

Hi there,

I am new to the TI dev. Can someone explain me how does one define a PIN as an input or output? I have to define some OUTPUT and INPUT pins in order to control and receive data from an analog IC, EM4095.

Is there a programming handbook/web page for TI DEV - a reference for native macros, commands, functions and variables?

Also, I want to create a new project. I have been working on the example project in SimpleLink Academy. The project uses an older version of the BLE stack as well as the ARM compiler. I want to include bluetooth functionality in my project. Which version should I use? The latest or can I use the older version (both BLE and ARM compiler versions).

What all files/folders should I be looking for in the newly created project?

Best,

Azm

RTOS/TMS320C6678: Custom Version # for PDK

$

Part Number:TMS320C6678

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

So I am rebuilding the current PDK for the C6678, i.e., pdk_c667x_2_0_9, because I need to customize it for our specific H/W.  How do I change the version # to add a custom postfix or whatnot?  I know this is doable, but I just don't recall which file(s) I need to modify to give it a new version #.

Or put another way, I need to keep the original PDK package intact to link against for other projects, so I want to effectively install my new one side-by-side with it.  This requires my changing the version string (obviously), but I don't recall how to do that.

Any guidance would be appreciated.  Thanks!

TM4C1294NCPDT: Sleep mode while debugging

$

Part Number:TM4C1294NCPDT

Fellows,

We started the mission of implementing power saving to our projects, by using different sleep modes.

Because the first attempt directly at our own code failed (FaultISR), we decided to use a TM4C1294 EK Launchpad, and imported the sleep_modes Tivaware example. First attempt there also failed: after toggling the power mode a couple of times, timer-driven led ceased to blink, and code was stuck at FaultISR.

Having read something about Sleep Mode versus Debugging, we decided to run the board again without having the JTAG debugger active - in which case the code runs properly.

Is that really the reason? Maybe worth mentioning that the TivaWare tested example used compiler 5.2.6 during its creation, while I am using TI v18.1.1.LTS.

If in fact SleepMode can't be used during debugging, is there any flag/register that can be checked to verify that debug is active, so that a conditional call to SysCtlSleep() can be applied?
