CC3100MOD: Antenna´s transmission line mismatch

$

Part Number:CC3100MOD

I´m new to RF circuits, but I took a fairly good read these days, and started doing my designs around CC3100MOD for a custom 2layer PCB.

I started by following the layout guidelines found on CC3100MOD datasheet. In it´s datasheet at Table 6.2 and 6.3 TI gives the recommended  values for PCB coplanar waveguides parameters, such as gap, width and core high. Both for for 2 and 4 layers. I took the time to simulate those values in Saturn PCB

as expected we can see it got pretty close to what was recommended by TI .

However in the same datasheet they recommend you to follow their design antenna to get the FCC certificated. Due to that I downloaded the Design files of the CC3100MODBOOST, to get it´s gerber files.

In CC3100MODBOOST´s assembly file LINK, they make clear to be using a 2layer PCB with a core of ~38mil and copper of ~1.8mil in both sides, due to that i was hoping to find as defined in the CC3100MOD datasheet a track width of 35mils instead of the 20mils as it is.

So making it short here are the questions:

  1. Why are they not using the 35 mils as suggested for the 2layers design? Are they compensating the mismatch of 50ohms in the PI matching?
  2. If using the 35mils as suggested the track will get too big for the manufacturer antenna layout AH316 LINK . Due to that will I need to do some necking before getting to the matching circuit?

Linux/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM437X: DTS file setting for the SPI2 on the AM437x starter kit

Part Number:PROCESSOR-SDK-AM437X

Tool/software: Linux

The am437x-sk-evm.dts file doesn't configure the SPI2 port on the starter kit. Only the MCSPI2 is accessible on that evaluation board. I was wondering if anyone has the modified dts file which configures both SPI2 and its DMA functionality on that starter kit.

Part Number:LMK04208

Hello,

I'm looking for a jitter cleaning solution that can remove large amounts of jitter (up to 5ns of jitter). Does such a solution exist while maintaining the average input clock frequency?

How much input jitter can the LMK04208 handle?

Thanks,
Nathan

Part Number:BQ24392

From email:

“I would like to know if bq24392 is able to detect different types of SDP. For example there is SDP capable to source 600mA,and the other capable to source 900mA. If NO, then is it a way to detect it”

Can you help us understand if the BQ24392 can detect different types of SDP? If not what are some solutions we can provide?

CCS/MSP430F133: Clocks and ADC understanding help

$

Part Number:MSP430F133

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I've been working on an application that uses TimerA to generate various square waves using the GPIO.  I have that working.  I also need to periodically read the ADC.  When I add the ADC code, the square wave code stops running.  I've been pouring over the user guide to determine what I'm doing wrong but the user guide is somewhat obtuse and I've not found my problem yet...  The timer is setup as follows:

void Init_Clock()
{
// Stop Watchdog timer
WDTCTL = WDTPW | WDTHOLD; // Stop watchdog timer
CCTL1 = CCIE; // CCR1 interrupt enabled
CCR1 = TICS_FOR_50ms;
CCTL2 = CCIE; // CCR2 interrupt enabled
CCR2 = TICS_FOR_20ms;
TACTL = TASSEL_2 + MC_2 + TAIE; // SMCLK, Contmode,
}

The ADC is setup as follows.

void Init_ADC()

{

ADC12CTL0 = SHT0_10 + ADC12ON; // Set sampling time, turn on ADC12
ADC12CTL1 = SHP; // Use sampling timer, SMCLK
ADC12IE = 0x01; // Enable interrupt
ADC12CTL0 |= ENC; // Conversion enabled
P6SEL |= 0x01; // P6.0 ADC option select
}

I start the ADC acquisition periodically from the timerA  CCR2  countdown interrupt by calling

ADC12CTL0 |= ADC12SC;  // Start Conversion

The timerA code runs fine until I make the above start conversion call.  When I make that call, the repetitive TimerA interrupts (in which we create the square waves) stop being generated.

I'm sure I've not configured the clock for the ADC correctly but that secret sauce seems to elude me.  Obviously I need a better clock subsystem understanding.

Suggestions appreciated.

Tool/software: Linux

Hello,

I'm using our board made from am335x sdk kit, with ti-sdk-am335x-evm-05.05.00.00

I found out that I can't do phtread debug with gdb.

Some digging shows that gdb needs nonstriped version of pthread library

Do you know if it's true? and if yes how can I get it?

Thank you.

Part Number:CC2420

Hi there,

On the 73 page of the CC2420 datasheet, I found a register named "IOCFG1 (0x1D) – I/O Configuration Register 1". The "HSSD_SRC" bit can be configured to 3 for "Output I/Q after digital down mix and channel filtering". What does this output mean? In what format is this output generated?

I am wondering if this register can be configured to output the I/Q phase information so that I can recover the phase from the I/Q information.

Thanks,

Meaning of Wlconf parameters

Hi, I'm Wonyoung. I need some help about how to configure Wilink 8 with WL1807MOD

I'm trying to turn Extream Low Power off and want to trying configure some parameters of wlconf file.

I converted default.ini(which in wilink8-wlan-18xx-ti-utils) to default.conf, I found many values. But I couldn't find the meaning of the parameters and values.

In this manual(http://processors.wiki.ti.com/images/5/5b/WiLink8_wlconf_maunal.pdf) discribed only few parameters but I coudn't find many other parameters.

Even this Header file(https://github.com/TI-OpenLink/18xx-ti-utils/blob/mc_internal/wlconf/conf.h). In this Header, Many parameters are discribed but I can't link the structures in Header and .conf file

(For example, I can link some value(ht or some scan options) between Header and .conf, But most I can't find 'wake up' options in .conf even Header discribed.)

And also, all of parameters filled with default values but I can't understand and don't know how to change it.

(Ex, core.conn.sta_sleep_auth = 0xff    ---->  It  seems parameter about the sta authsociation sleep time, but I can't find the meaning of '0xff' and Can't find the detail explanation of this parameter)

Does any other document described the parameters of wlconf? Or can I ask specific parameters to this forum?

I already read WiLink8 - wlconf(SWRA489).

I believe you guys can help me.

Best Regards

-Wonyoung

Part Number:TDC1011

Hi,

My application is measuring the level of water in a water tank with the ultrasonic transducer mounted on the top cover of the water tank (on the inside).

Detection range is from 10 cm to 1m (measured from the transducer) to the air/water boundary.

1. Is there an application note for TDC1011 used in a single transducer mode?

2. What would be the typical excitation voltage for the ultrasonic transducer for my application?

Thanks

BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM: question about the Instaspin-foc add the CAN receive program

Part Number:BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM

Now I am using the BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM and the Launchpad-28069M,I want to communicate  with another device via CAN bus.

the 28069M receives message from the device.

I want to add the CAN receive program to the while(1) forever loop in the motorware program.

now the CAN bus can work well in low speed mode .

Once I increase the CAN transmit speed ,it can not work.

I doubt that the CAN transmit time perhaps is less than the while(1) .

if I use the CAN receive interrupt ,whether the foc  program can work well.

Thanks~

TPS65218: How to delay PMIC boot timing

$

Part Number:TPS65218

Hi,

My customer considers to use TPS65218 with AM3354.

TPS65218 and AM3354 are in the same board( graphic board). But System power supply circuit is in another board(main board).

Customer would like to delay PMIC boot timing after system power is supplied to PMIC. The signal  for making delay timing  is only XPOR from main board.  XPOR signal is 3.3V and low active.

I know PB and PWR_EN signals can use for the change of TPS65218 boot timing. But PB input is required the falling edige. But XPOR is the rising edge (L --> H). So PB input can't use.

Also PWR_EN input is connected to AM3354. So PWR_EN also can't use.

Do you have any idea for delaying PMIC boot timing?  So  I have one question. Is it possible that XPOR signal connect to IN_BIAS pin? If this is possible, PMIC boot timing can be delayed by XPOR, I think.

But IN_BIAS pin is for Power. XPOR signal is 3.3V. Is it OK for IN_BIAS pin?

Please advise me.

I appreciate your quick reply.

Best regards,

Michi

TPS54560: the difference between ψJT=5.9℃/W and θJCtop=45.8℃/W

$

Part Number:TPS54560

Hi team

Would you mind if we ask TPS54560?
We are sorry for asking the similar question many times.

The datasheet shows ψJT=5.9℃/W and θJCtop=45.8℃/W.
Why does TPS54560 have the difference between ψJT=5.9℃/W and θJCtop=45.8℃/W?
Because, Ψjb=23.4℃/W and θjb=23.4℃/W are the same value.

We appreciate your help.

Kind regards,

CC2538DK: Reg. channels in CC2538

$

Part Number:CC2538DK

Dear TI engineers,

I am using CC2538 (EM) + SmartRF06 Evaluation Board (EB)  (Linux Ubuntu; Contiki OS)

I just wanted to confirm if there are a total of 8 or 16 channels (that can be used) for configuring the CC2538 chips.

The data sheet says it has  only 8 Channels (If so, what nos. are they?)

However, as per example codes (like cc2538-rf.c link: https://github.com/contiki-os/contiki/blob/master/cpu/cc2538/dev/cc2538-rf.c

param channel The desired channel as a value in [11,26]
 \return Returns a value in [11,26] representing the current channel*

 So can I choose any channel/number from 11 to 26?

I assign channels in the following line of the code within the 'contiki-conf.h' file:

#define CC2538_RF_CONF_CHANNEL              26

(I have configured the CC2538 chips with 11, 25 and 26 so far and all of them seem to work perfectly fine.)

Thanking in advance,

Indrajit

Part Number:LAUNCHXL-CC2650

Hi,

   I am trying to set a address for my CC2650 Launchpad, I found this code snippet below in one of the examples, and have added to my code. The purpose of putting the BLE Device Address is so we can can capture packet sniffer data using TI SmartRF Packet Sniffer or other Packet Sniffer software. I want to check if my Bluetooth Device Address has been set to my CC2650 Launchpad. The SensorTag App does not show the Bluetooth Device Address I set. What other app or software can be used to determine the Bluetooth Device Address at my CC2650 Launchpad?

static void SensorTag_init(void)
{
  // Handling of buttons, LED, relay
  hGpioPin = PIN_open(&pinGpioState, SensortagAppPinTable);
  PIN_registerIntCb(hGpioPin, SensorTag_callback);

  // ***************************************************************************
  // N0 STACK API CALLS CAN OCCUR BEFORE THIS CALL TO ICall_registerApp
  // ***************************************************************************
  // Register the current thread as an ICall dispatcher application
  // so that the application can send and receive messages.
  ICall_registerApp(&selfEntityMain, &sem);

  // added address
  // Hard code the DB Address till CC2650 board gets its own IEEE address
  uint8 bdAddress[B_ADDR_LEN] = { 0x22, 0x22, 0x22, 0x22, 0x22, 0x5A };
  HCI_EXT_SetBDADDRCmd(bdAddress);

  // Set device's Sleep Clock Accuracy
  HCI_EXT_SetSCACmd(40);
