TINA/Spice/LM1086: my schematics might be wrong. Libraries for Eagle/Altium?

Part Number:LM1086

Tool/software:TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hello, I have two questions please regarding this component.

1) Can I find somewhere the lib for the LM1086 for Eagle/Altium? It seems I need to make my own because it's missing from my libraries and I am not experience with that.

2) I am afraid that my schematics (designed by someone else) are wrong.  Please see the following, the regulator is replaced by LM1086, R3 =120 Ohms and R4 = 200 Ohms. The Vin=5V, Vout =3.3 V, Vadj =2 V. It seems that when I plug my power supply on a laptop I see a huge spike in the output ( from -10V to 10V) I believe that this might have destroyed some pcbs. I also see spikes on the outputs of two cameras. As a result, usually one of the cameras is not recognized anymore. Isn't the role of the voltage regulator to provide 3.3 V stable  and robust to external disturbances? Could it be that the Rload in the output the designer selected is wrong? Maybe I should replace it with a bigger value and the capacitor at the output as well? How should I choose the cap?

Please make any suggestions if you re more experienced in that. All the components on the pcb are smd. It is hard to measure the cap without removing it and I am afraid I won't re-solder it correctly. Thank you in advance !!!

LMX2541: Maximum Loop Bandwidth/Baud Rate?

Part Number:LMX2541

Hi,

I'm working on using the LMX2541 for an FSK implementation. I am attempting to use a baud rate of 1 Mbps, so I have consequently made the bandwidth at about 2 times that, centered at about 978MHz. When I attempt to run it, there's output in the range of +-7MHz approximately, resulting in an output similar to that of a bandpass filter in that range. Is this because the LMX2541 is unable to run at that baud rate, or is there another reason for it? Is there a max baud rate? When we run the same code on an older revision of the board we are testing, it seems to run fine as long as we do not run it at a high baud rate.

Please let me know if there is any other information needed in order to properly answer this question.

Thanks!

TMS320DM368: VPBE vertical zoom not working

Part Number:TMS320DM368

I tried  enabling the VPBE zoom (VIDWINMD.VVZ0) on a set of resolutions, as low as 200p and as high as Full HD, and I can't manage to get it to work. I have the same results as the other thread there is open in the first page right now where I replied to without any luck, link:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/davinci_digital_media_processors/f/100/t/163349

A duplicated black and white image appears if I zoom the horizontal resolution 2x or 4x, as seen in the thread linked. However, I can zoom the vertical resolution just fine, at the cost of messing up the croma channel.

What's going on?

Could someone please just confirm this feature is broken and it should never have made it to the documentation?

To replicate, just issue "devmem 0x01C71C04 32 0x119" with a running video0 stream.

Hope someone can put my mind at ease.

Thanks

Going from LM3S8971 to TM4Cxas Mico Controller

We currently using the LM3S8971 micro controller on our e-bike controller. However, These are not being produced any more. So we need to change to a different micro controller. The Website, () Shows to use a TM4C12xas micro controller.

Our questions is, what is needed to change from the old micro controller to the new? How intensive is it, in relation to coding and programs, etc...?

Any help you can offer on this would be great!

Thanks,

Justin

Hello, our customer is using our TPS54540 and has a question below, can you assist?

"I was reading the datasheet, and was surprised that there is not a resistor value in Table 3 for a 12V output.  Should I replace both R5 and R6?  If so, what are the suggested resistor values in order to keep the on time greater than the minimum on-time (as described in section 1.4.1?"

DAC8801: DAC Output when Clock is disabled, but SDI and CS is active

Part Number:DAC8801

What will the DAC output do if the Clock input is not transitioning, but SDI and CS are moving as if the clock is moving.

We have a circuit that when the system detects a system condition, it disables the clock by setting it low.  The CS and SDI continues to function as if it has a data to store to the DAC.  We are finding that the DAC does not always hold it's last value just before we disable the clock.  Is it possible that a new D13 value is being stored into the DAC when the CS transitions low to high?

MSP430FR6989: AES256 and USB communication support

Part Number:MSP430FR6989

Hello Team,

I have a customer who is looking for a MCUdevice which can support both AES256 and USB communication. From my search I could find either AES256 or USB not both. Do we have any MSP430/ MCU device that can support both features ?

The customer query below :

We originally were going with the MSP430f5529 because the usci supports USB. Now it looks like we will need AES-256 support.

I see that the msp430FR6989 supports the AES-256 but there isn’t a USB section like in the MSP430f5xxx user guide.

A) Is it true that the msp430FR6989 does not support USB through those eUSCI cores?

B) Is there any microcontrollers that supports both USB communication and AES-256 bit? "

I would appreciate if you could point me to this particular device.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Kishen

Part Number:LAUNCHXL-F28069M

I'm running labs on LaunchXL-F28069M + BOOSTXL-DRV8301. I was able to identify motor and proceeded to all labs prior to Lab04. However, the motor does not spin in Lab04 after setting

gMotorVars.Flag_enableSys to 1

gMotorVars.Flag_Run_Identify to 1

gMotorVars.IqRef_A to 0.2 (even greater)

SpeedRef_krpm was set to 0.1 by default. Please advise what is missing?

I confirmed that running Lab03b still drives motor successfully.

TPS25910: Can Enable be powered with no VIN?

Part Number:TPS25910

Application usingTPS25910 eFuse will supply 3.3V to EN pin and FLT pin (through 5K pull-up) with no voltage applied to VIN.

Is this acceptable? Will device be damaged or have excessive leakage.

Assumming this is OK, the data sheet mentions that FLT output becomes operational when VIn is above 1V. So could the FLT pin output the wrong state as VIN powers up (EN still = 3.3V)?

BQ34Z651: Un-clearable Permanent Failure

Part Number:BQ34Z651

Hi Everyone,

I have two 4 cell packs that seem to have the same issue wherein there is a permanent failure CIM_A that I cannot clear. my CIM_config is as follows:

Active CIM Fail Voltage = 800mV
Active CIM Time = 5s
Active CIM Check Voltage = 3075mV

I am able to clear it momentarily but it returns in about 1 second (faster than I am reading the register) and other permanent failures disappear just fine.

The current cell voltages in one pack are 2468, 2445, 2445, 2468mV; which while low are reasonable well balanced. I am trying to charge the battery but am unable to because of the permanent failure.

Has anyone else seen this issue or a similar one where a ghost PF flag is set?

I imagine it is something wrong with my data flash but I can't figure out what and cannot change anything because of my state of charge and PF flag.

Thanks, David

TMS320F28069: TMS320F28069

Part Number:TMS320F28069

Hello

Our application uses a 28069 to control a printhead @12Mhz using SPI.  Works great, but now we need 7 SPIs @12MHz.  There just isn't time to send out all the data using a single SPI, just wondering if this might be possible using the CLA.  Perhaps setting up a pwm at 12MHz to trigger the CLA, which would modify PWM signals every cycle to emulate SPI?  The CLA and the main CPU really do run in parallel, correct?

This would be easy peasy with an FPGA, but the 28069 is just so nice for everything else we're doing, so we want to give it a shot.

Any ideas?

OPT8241-CDK-EVM: Is it possible to capture a true grayscale image with 8241

Part Number:OPT8241-CDK-EVM

Hello,

I need to find out if it is possible to capture a true grayscale image with OPT8241.

From our evaluation, we determined that 8241 CDK performs very well.  However, we have a very specific need to capture a true grayscale image.  A synthetic amplitude-based image is not sufficient for our application.  We found out that it is not sensitive enough to targets with certain colors.

Thank you in advance for your response,

Dmitry.

Hi,

We are trying to make a phone like device with TI's TM4C129x chip. We will need the algorithm for AEC (Acoustic Echo Cancellation), AGC (Auto-Gain Control), noise reduction. I noticed that ST and NXP all provide some kind of libraries free for their customers. Does TI have the similar support or is this in TI's plan?

PSIM: InstaSPIN-FOC simulation and auto code generation now available

InstaSPIN-FOC can now be simulated and code can be generated automatically by PSIM. Several InstaSPIN examples based on TI DRV8305, DRV8312, and TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT are provided. By using this tool, you can evaluate TI's superior InstaSPIN sensorless control technology and easily incorporate it into your own product development.

PSIM provides a handy utility tool to calculate parameters required for InstaSPIN. You can simulate the entire system in PSIM and see how InstaSPIN performs in your motor control algorithm. Using PSIM's embedded code generation functionality, and with a few clicks, you can then generate the complete code automatically, upload it to an InstaSPIN enabled MCU, and start spinning the motor.

Essentially, you are able to easily test InstaSPIN with your topology + motor and then quickly progress to implementation and product development, greatly speeding up the process.

PSIM is hosting a Webinar on this topic on Thursday February 16th from 1pm-2pm EST (East Coast USA)

Hello All,

I am trying to install CCS 6.1.0.00104 on my Windows 7 laptop and every time the session comes and stops at the "CCS Installer Folder" and even if "Next" button is pressed it does not go any further

I needed this particular version of CCS for continuity with current build environment, I had disabled firewall and anti virus also in order to stop any interference with the installation but still there is no luck. If anyone has faced similar issue or can suggest some sort of remedy I will be grateful.

Thanks in Advance.

LAUNCHXL-F28377S: Problem with usb_dev_bulk example on the F28377S

Part Number:LAUNCHXL-F28377S

Hello!

I am trying to get the usb_dev_bulk-example with the LaunchpadXL-F28377S to work on Windows 10 x64. I should also note that  I am using a modified cable where D+,D- and GND are directly connected to Pin 9 (GPIO43), Pin 10 (GPIO42) and GND.

So far I can get Windows to recognize that something has been plugged in but it gets only identified as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed". While looking through this forum I have encountered various other threads about the same issue but with different devices. Most issues seem to boil down to driver related stuff. Here is a list of things that i have tried until now:

  • Turn off driver signature enforcement

  • device in device manager -> update driver -> pick folder "...\device_support\F2837xS\v210\F2837xS_common\windows_drivers". Result: Windows says that the best driver is already isntalled.

  • update driver and specifically pick usb_dev_bulk.inf. Result:

  • press windows+R, open open hdwwiz and open usb_dev_bulk.inf. Result: It is now possible to install the driver and after that it appears in the Device Manager but its still not working.

  • I have also tried the things above with the TivaWare 2.1.3 driver package from ti.com/tool/SW-TM4C

  • Accodring to this thread (e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/t/554848) there is a bug in the v210 version of the dual core variant of my chip. However even after applying the suggested fix and also trying v200, v190 and v160 it still does not work

  • I can set a breakpoint rigth at the start of uint32_t RxHandler(void *pvCBData, uint32_t ui32Event, uint32_t ui32MsgValue,void *pvMsgData). After plugging the device in the breakpoint gets triggered only once and the data is as follows:

pvCBData = 0x8400

pvMsgData = 0x0

ui32Event = 7 (USB_EVENT_SUSPEND)

ui32MsgValue = 0xA53C

To me this looks like that data actually gets sent and the cable and hardware ports should be fine.

  • I have also tried to run it on two other PCs (one with Win10 x64 and the other Win8 x64). Unfortunately rigth now I do not have access to run it on a x86 Machine because i am beginning to suspect, that the drive ris just not compatible on x64 or am I missing something else?

CCS/CCSTUDIO: CC2650 STK SensorTag

Part Number:CCSTUDIO

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am new to the CC2650 platform using the CCS 7.0 with the TI-SDK.

I had the CCS installed and TI-SDK build accordingly by all default setting.

Currently, all the files are located in "C:\ti\simplelink\ble_sdk_2_02_01_18"

I am ready to make changes to application files only in "C:\ti\simplelink\ble_sdk_2_02_01_18\src\examples\sensortag\cc26xx\app"

Is there a simple way just to copy this "app" folder to other folder and build the project ?
