WEBENCH® Tools/TPS5401: TPS5401

Part Number: TPS5401

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello,

I'am using the TPS5401DGQR DC/DC converter with the following working ranges:

VIN_min = 4,5V

VIN_max = 30V

The WEBENCH® tool suggests to use the following voltage divider for the ENABLE pin:

RenT = 105kohm

RenB = 46.4Kohm

By doing this the maximum voltage drop on ENABLE pin would be arround 9V when Vin is 30V, but in the datasheet it is written that the maximum voltage on ENABLE pin should be 5V

How is it possible should I trust in the simulator?

SN65MLVD204A: About output FET

Part Number: SN65MLVD204A

Dear all,

Sorry to ask such a basic question.

I think that FET connected in series to output terminal(A/B or B/A) is FET controlled by DE terminal in description of figure 9.4.2 of page 18 of datasheet(SN65MLVD204A) . is it correct ?

MSP430FR5994: Status Register Reserved Bits

Part Number: MSP430FR5994

I am currently playing around with stack manipulation during interrupts. I want to change the return address on the stack, so that after the interrupt, the program jumps to my desired location. I know about all the dangers that can happen here, but that is not why I ask something here. It is about the reserved bits in the status register.

I found out, that it is not enough to just alter the PC, that is saved on the stack (not the actual one). I have also to set some of the reserved bits of the SR (saved on the stack, not the actual one) to zero in order to get a valid return address after the ISR. I googled a lot, but did not find any information on what is actually saved in those reserved bits of the status register.

The only thing I found was this: On MSPs with MSP430X (20 bit) CPU core, the saved status register (which is 8 bit only, but saved as 16 bit) also contains the upper 4 bits of the return address. Which should not be touched, of course.
As an answer to a question asked in this forum (Image may be NSFW.

So, my question is: What is saved in those reserved bits from the status register? Does anyone know this? Is this written somewhere?

AM5728: spl:mmc init failed with error:-123

Part Number: AM5728

Hi, every experts.

There is something wrong when i boot my custom board of am5728. According to the log, SD card can't be detected so the MLO ends with no valid boot device. But the SD card is still on the board, what does the log "MMC: no card present" means and how can i find the defination of the error code "-123"?

By the way, sysboot[15:0] is 0b1000 0001 0010 0010.(SD-eMMC-USB)

Hi!

My customer wants to control the Power Path with a uC.

Can you switch PP_HV_2 of TPS650987D with a GPIO event?

If yes, which event would you recommend? Has this been tried before?

Kind regards,

CCS/TMS320F28069M: Timer to read pwm duty cycle?

Part Number: TMS320F28069M

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I have been searching various forums with no good results here.

I am using the F28069 in a project where I need to read input PWM as from a regular RC-controller. Since we have a lot of other processes going on in the code I would like to do this using one or more timers, if possible. There are various examples of using the timer for outputting a PWM-signal. But not on how to read an incoming PWM duty cycle. I really just need some getting started input to move forward with this myself, if anyone could help me getting this started.

Thanks!

CCS/TMS320F28335: SCIA communication in TMS320F28335

Part Number: TMS320F28335

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I wanted to validate SCI port A UART communication without setting SciaRegs.SCICCR.bit.LOOPBKENA to 1(without going into loopback mode) and shorting Rx and Tx pin externally.

Here is what I did

Procedure 1:

Looked for GPIO Pin 28 and 29 which happens to be Pin 3 and 4 of P8 connector and shorted it externally.

Procedure 2:

shorting pin 2 and 3 of DB9 RS232 connector.

I was unable to receive any data on Rx buffer in Procedure 1 whereas Procedure 2 was giving me intended result.

Can anybody explain is there any hardware connection difference between procedure 1 and 2?

Thanking you in advance.

BQ24610: HIDRV and LODRV don't work in CHARGE state

Part Number: BQ24610

I developed a circuit board with reference to 10.2 Typical Application in BQ24610 datasheet. Charging function worked a few times, so I think the circuit is correct.

However, charging can't work now and I can not understand what occurs.

If you could have some idea, please give an advice.

<Behavior>

1. VBAT(16V, 4cells) is supplied. BATFET is turned on.

2. ADAPTER voltage is supplied. BATFET is turned off. #PG=LOW and #STAT1=LOW.

3. HIDRV and LODRV does not make any pulse. (When charging working, HIDRV and LODRV make pulse.)

Is the BQ24610 in some fault state or is it broken?

BQ24070: bq24070 how to skip short circuit protection mode

Part Number: BQ24070

Hi,

I have trouble with the charger. I'm testing with the BQ24070

Schematic:

* I have 5V at the Input

* 25 ohm resistor Load at the output.

* No battery Connected.

Problem:

When I power the BQ24070, led PG is on and other are off. At the output it should be 4.4V, but instead there is just 0.25V

So my conclusion is that the device is on Short-Circuit protection mode.

I add a 10nF capacitor to DPPM pin, but the problem still there (when i add battery to circuit, it's work fine but not work when battery is not connected.

How can I skip from short circuit protection, when i have not battery in circuit and i can not disconnect the load from circuit.

thanks for your reply.

UCC28600: Unencrypted SPICE model

Part Number: UCC28600

Hello,

Would it be possible to receive an unencrypted SPICE model of this part. We're having some issues with audible switching noise due to the burst frequency, but we also need to assure operation over the load range. It would me most efficient to simulate ourselves.

As far as I'm aware, my company does not have an NDA with TI, but I can arrange this if I can receive the necessary documents!

Kind regards,

Jef

TLV320AIC3104-Q1: Why the input has a input DC bias?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3104-Q1

Dear team,

When the customers tested 14pin and 16pin, they found that the input has a 1.8V DC bias volatge. In order to check where the DC bias comes from, the customer disconnected C4071&C4072(input capacitor), then tested the 14pin and 16 pin, there is still a 1.8V DC bias. The customer sets the 14 pin and 16 pin as signal end inputs. Is this phenomenon  normal? Why the input has a DC bias? If I want to remove this DC bias, how should I do? Is it feasible to set the page 0 register 12's D7D6=01 &D5D4=01?

DS90UB936-Q1: Can 936 work with 953?

Part Number: DS90UB936-Q1

Hi Team,

In 936 datasheet, it says 936 cannot be compatible with 953. But some thread in E2E said that 936 can work with 953 and I also heard some people said that these two devices can work together. So I want to make sure whether 936 can be compatible with 953. If yes, does it need any special settings? Is there any limitation? Thank you.

TPS50601A-SP: Control Loop Stability / Phase margin / rising Phase at low load condition

Part Number: TPS50601A-SP

At low load condition (Vin=3.3V, Vout=1V, Iout only about 100mA) in our circuit the measured Bode Plot phase at 1kHz is at -180 degrees, then rises (!) and crosses zero degrees (!!) at about 22kHz where loop gain still is about 10dB. Unity Gain is at 54kHz, +30 degrees ("Phase margin"). Peak phase of +45° is at 200kHz where loop gain is about -15dB.

This shape of Loop Phase is unexpected and not in line with the simulation result using the TPS50601A-SP_AVG PSpice model
downloaded from the TI website.

Contrary to that weird shape of the Loop Phase, the shape of the Loop gain basically looks healthy; at 5.4kHz, it is about +23dB, and falls very linearly (well, in the log-log bode plot) at 23dB/decade. However, the 0dB point at 54kHz is much higher in frequency compared to simulation, and it is a bit close to the 367kHz switching frequency (fsw).

With "medium" load (Iout about 1A), that strange "rising phase / 0 degree crossing" appearance is gone; the measured loop gain slope is about -30dB/decade around the 0dB point at 29kHz; phase is pretty constant at about +45 degrees above that frequency almost up to 300kHz.

With "high" load (Iout about 2A), the 0dB point is at 23kHz; the shape of gain and phase is almost identical to the "medium" load condition (the loop gain just is some 3dB lower).

This marked dependency of the bode plot on load condition is not in line with the circuit simulation.

We use an LC input filter L=350nH, C=(33uF+0.1ohm)||1uF; output L is 2.2uH, fsw is 367kHz, output C is 330uF.

Time domain 50mA load change from the "low load" condition does show a single 0.6mV regulation loop overshoot (underdamped response, Zout about 0.01 ohms) with about 10us half-width. This measurement also reveals the output capacitor ESR of (also) about 0.01ohm.

In obtaining the Bode plots, the network analyzer output amplitude was set to minimum; a 10dB increase did not cause any significant change in Loop Gain/Phase (aside from noise, which of course increases with decreasing stimulus amplitude).

Q1:
Can you help me understand what that "low load" bode plot phase bahavior is telling me? Could that have to do with the output inductor current ripple "going negative", causing the HI-side FET to briefly in each switch cycle source current into the INPUT filter capacitor in the low-load condition? I can see that this "current reversal" is indeed happening when I measure across the 0.1ohms damping resistor which is in series with the input filter capacitor.

Q2:
What could be the reason for the difference between Bode Plot measurement and simulation?

LAUNCHXL-F28379D: SCI B and SCI C

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28379D

Hello everyone,

I have opened a thread but nobody on TI side has replied. So I opened again.

My aim is to be able to send and receive data from SCI B or SCI C by programming on MATLAB.

I want to use SCI B or SCI C which I can connect with simple jumper cables from GPIO 18-19 and GPIO 56-139. But I could not manage to get any communication signal from these ports. Only SCI A works but it is connected to the USB. I want to use SCI B and SCI C.

As far as I understand I need to change MUX to be able to use SCI B or SCI C. I do not know how to do that ?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.
