Part Number: DCA1000EVM

Hi, I was able to take data on mmWave Studio Version 2.1 but at the end it throws an error and I don't know what the error is for.

Thanks,

ISO7741: Current Consumption

Part Number: ISO7741

Hello,

I'm trying to understand the current consumption of this part. If I am reading the datasheet correctly, it actually consumes more power with a "low" DC input signal than a 1mbps signal (4.9 and 3.2mA vs 3.2 and 2.8mA) . Why is that?

Thanks,

Stanley

BQ27Z561-R1: Fuel Gauge Operation

Part Number: BQ27Z561-R1

Hi Team,

My customer has a question on the BQ27Z561-R1 that I'd like to run by you just to confirm--

For the battery profile, is it saved as non-volatile memory format on the fuel gauge of the battery pack? If so, when the battery is completely drained, will the battery profile be lost? If that's the case, then will the gauge need to be re-programmed and configured by a host MCU?

Looking at the block diagram for this device, it appears the gauge is flash-based so it should retain the battery profile even if the battery is depleted. Can you confirm this is true? Are there any other parameters that need to be programmed to the gauge if it were to loose power completely?

Thanks,
Mitchell

TMS320F28069M: RAM/FLASH real-time issues

$

0

Part Number: TMS320F28069M

Hello,

I am running a project with a background main() and mainISR() at 20kHz rate on the piccolo f28069 processor. I have two versions of the proj.c file differing in a few lines of code inside mainISR. Let's call them proj_v1.c and proj_v2.c

Issue:

proj_v1.c seems to run ok when running from RAM or FLASH i.e

proj_v2.c seems to run ok from RAM. When running the FLASH version, after a point, main() does not seem to get executed.

I suspected that some real-time constraints are getting violated. I used cpu_usage function to estimate cycle counts inside mainISR (4500 cycles available @ 90MHz).

proj_v1(RAM) -> 3700 (max count) -> code functionally seems to be doing what it is supposed to in the application

proj_v1(FLASH) -> 4600 (max count)-> code functionally seems to be doing what it is supposed to in the application, though the max count doesn't make sense.

proj_v2(RAM) -> 3877 (max count)-> code functionally seems to be doing what it is supposed to in the application

proj_v2(FLASH) -> 4800 (max count) -> main() gets executed initially but not continuously in the background

These are my user defined sections:

#ifdef FLASH

#pragma CODE_SECTION(mainISR,"ramfuncs");

// Used for running BackGround in flash, and ISR in RAM
extern uint16_t *RamfuncsLoadStart, *RamfuncsLoadEnd, *RamfuncsRunStart;

#endif

Some portions of the linker.cmd:

   .cinit              : > FLASHA_D,   PAGE = 0
   .pinit              : > FLASHA_D,   PAGE = 0
   .text               : > FLASHA_D,   PAGE = 0
   codestart           : > BEGIN,      PAGE = 0
   ramfuncs            : LOAD = FLASHA_D,
                         RUN = RAML0_L8,
                         LOAD_START(_RamfuncsLoadStart),
                         LOAD_END(_RamfuncsLoadEnd),
                         RUN_START(_RamfuncsRunStart),
                         PAGE = 0

Can I get some inputs on why the cpu cycle count is so different between the ram and flash versions even though I do a memCopy to copy mainISR from flash to ram?

Any thoughts on what else to look for?

Thanks

Regards,

Rajan

BQ40Z80: Firmware control of CHG and DSG for system ON/OFF

$

Part Number: BQ40Z80

Hello,

I have been trying to implement a way to utilize the fuel-gauges functionality and parts.   The end goal is to use the fuel-gauge as both protection, and a soft-latch power switch.

This is entirely feasible to some degree, by utilizing the Emergency FET Shutdown capability.  Contrary to the name, it doesn't have to be an emergency to use this feature.  This feature allows me to press a momentary button for ~1s to tell the fuel-gauge to either turn ON or OFF the CHG and DSG FETs.  They can even be turned back on at the presence of a charger, so that you don't have to press the button to allow the battery to be charged.  This is great, except...

If the battery is integrated into a system, the entire system turns on when charging commences and does not turn off when the charger is removed.  So if the CHG FET could simply always be on (unless a fuel-gauge protection gets tripped) but the DSG FET be command-able, this problem could be avoided.

So if I could press a button for 1 second to turn ON or OFF the DSG FET alone, I could have exactly what I am trying to do.  The alternative is to implement external circuitry to be a high or low side switch but this suddenly increases cost and valuable space (especially for a high current application).  This seems entirely wasteful when the parts and capability already exist in the fuel-gauge circuit.

I know that the DSG and CHG FETs can be individually controlled, but only through I2C commands and only when the Firmware FET control is disabled..

So I am at a loss.  The function that I am looking for should be technically possible.  There must be a way for me to manually command the DSG FET ON or OFF.  Preferably through one of the GPIO pins.   Any help with this would be hugely appreciated.  It's the last design obstacle in this project.

Thank you,

-Chris

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I have been trying to use the window function for FFT in the real time, seems like that there is not the related window function available now.

I try to use the way as the author Vishal Coelho recommand that to add a new .asm file and a extern function but then I failed to compile.

The error is like "

Description Resource Path Location Type
[E9999] Pipeline write-read RFFT_adc_f32_win.asm /2837x_RFFT_ADC_RT line 92 C/C++ Problem

"

So how can I use the window for real time fft

LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1: Experimental Launchpad

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1

Hi,

I recently bought two CC1352R1 launchpads from digikey and received both launchpads with a chip without any revision character as described here:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/zigbee-and-thread/f/158/t/767777

There is no character after R1F3. Now the SDK version 3.30 is not working on the device as the project zero will not start and hang in the function call: NOROM_SetupTrimDevice(). Instead of the revision character there is an X in front of CC1352 which apparently stands for experimental device. I was not aware that I bought an experimental launchpad and I am wondering what SDK versions are compatible with it and how I can avoid to buy experimental launchpads in the future.

Best,

Alessandro

Hi

I wanted to know if i can use the TPD4E1U06DBVR part to protect the Circuitry connected to the 5V VBus line.

Currently i have the D+ and D- connected to Pins 1 and 6 and CC1 and CC2 connected to Pins 3 and 4. If i connect pin 5 to VBUS, will it be sufficient to provide the required IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 ESD Protection?

Hey guys!

I'm trying to simulate a simple mic preamp with TINA. Here's the circuit I'm using.

So I created a simulation, here it is.

When I run ERC Analysis it's all green. But when I run DC Analysis -> Table of DC Results, I get 2 warnings:

- Pin 1 of Voltage Pin Vout is floating

- Pin 2 of capacitor C3 is floating.

I tried to change that part multiple times but no luck.

Please help me out here.

Thanks!

Part Number: TPS65400EVM-678

It's been a year since I've run PI-Commander Version 0.8.5.

Windows 10 Home

64 bit

V1809

I'm getting

"Incompatible FTDI device drivers have been detected. To resolve this issue, please exit the program and install compatible drivers which are bundled withthis application. The driver installer is accessible from the "PI-Commander-0.8.5" system menu. Acknowledge"

I've tried uninstalling and then re-installing the drivers already present on the machine that were working before. This did not work.

I followed the link in the TI folder in the windows start menu to "Download USB Drivers" which took me to "https://www.totalphase.com/products/usb-drivers-windows/" . Uninstallled the drivers using the "Uninstall Drivers" under the TI folder in the start menu. Then I installed the rivers from totalphase. This also did not work.

Where is the current version of PI Commander and associated Drivers?

We are utilizing this boost converter design for our CubeSat senior design power management project.  We only have less than a month left for our project, and the design calls for only surface mount components. We can get away with the IC being surface mount however, the 21 other components in the BOM are all surface mount and we were wondering if it is ok or even possible to switch those parts to through hole components?  Any other ideas for a EE seniors in a bit of a converter crunch?

TPS56520: I2C Timing Requirement

Part Number: TPS56520

Hi Team,

When I look at the 7.6 Timing Requirements of datasheet of TPS56520, tHD;DAT (Data Hold Time) says that Min=50ns and Max=900ns.

But when I look at the tHD;DAT specification of I2CBus user manual from NXP (Philips), it says that Min=0ns and Max=No Limit.

Q-1: Why does the datasheet of TPS56520 have the Max limit of tHD:DATA (Data Hold Time)?

Q-2: What is the reason of that?

Q-3: Can we expand the Max limit of tHD:DATA of TPS56520?

Thank you.

Part Number: BUF634A

Hi.
I am using DAC7811EVM board.

I want to convert the current output of DAC7811 to voltage.

So, I selected and used BUF634a.
I already know that this is wrong way, and the right way is to select another amp.
Apart from that, I would like to know the following:

What is wrong with BUF634a to perform current-voltage conversion as shown in the figure1 below?
When actually measured, the output deviated from the desired voltage as shown in the figure2 below.

Figure1:

Figure2:Measurement result

Figure 3 shows the configuration of DAC7811EVM for reference.
With this configuration, the output is almost ideal.

Figure3:the configuration of DAC7811EVM

Perhaps I don't understand the difference between a buffer and an amplifier.
Please tell me because I want to know as knowledge.

Hello everyone, I'm using FlashPro 2000 provided by elprotronic to write in a DSP. But I have this error "Flash Programming failed, block adress 0x3E8000". Someone knows how can I solve this, please?

Customer needs a microcontroller board that can handle industrial interference; they need something that won't go crazy with motors and other electric and electronics equipment [noise].

To TI Support Team/Forum:

The customer needs a  microcontroller board  that can handle  industrial interference;  they need something that won't go crazy around motors and other electric and electronics equipment [EMI, RFI, noise].

We were wondering if TI's WiLink™ 8 could be a solution to this (?). A microcontroller board solution that has a demo or development board (for testing) would be ideal.

Can you provide any part number suggestions for this?  Can you please email your answer to me at dan.rapp@mouser.com and also CC Fernando at automatizacion.ec@gmail.com?

Thanks,

Dan Rapp

Hi

I am trying to activate Data Length Extension.

I am suing SDK 1.50 and in HIDAdvRemote_Init() if I have this line:

HCI_EXT_SetMaxDataLenCmd(27, 328, 27, 328);

I get this on my sniffer for LL_LENGTH_REQ::

RX MAX: 27 octets, 328 ms

TX MAX: 27 octests, 328 ms

If I change the line to this:

HCI_EXT_SetMaxDataLenCmd(123, 1096, 123, 1096);

I get this on my sniffer for LL_LENGTH_REQ:

RX MAX: 123 octets, 1096 ms

TX MAX: 27 octets, 328 ms

Why is my TX limited?

How can I get my TX MAX to 123 too ?

I am pairing to the BTool.

TPS548A20: No output, possible design error?

Hi there,

I'm running into some issues with receiving the correct output voltage. I used the Webench tool to design a 1.2-1.8V @13-15A output goal. The source voltage is 20V. I've set the frequency to 300kHz using a 68k resistor. The inductor is 2uH. When I power it up with 19V I received an output of 0.1V and its current consumption is 0.005. I'm certain its properly grounded, it was attached via reflow. I've attached a schematic, board design, and a waveform from the output.

BQ78350-R1: How to write SREC

Part Number: BQ78350-R1

Hello TI Guys,

I have a product with a bq78350-R1 fuel gauge with FW V1.03. We need to start shipping product with firmware V1.04. The utilities in bqStudio require operation the operator to click through several layers and buttons, making this impractical for this purpose. I understand that the flashstream files are not supported for this product, so writing the SREC is the only option.

Writing the data flash part of the SREC (4000~4FFF) is straight-forward. However, I am stumped writing the firmware part.

1. Does TI have a solution that writes the entire SREC to a bq78350-R1 with minimal operator intervention?

2. Is the documentation on how to write the entire SREC to a device?

3. What is the best solution for this?

Thanks for your help!!

Phil
