TPS2511: Current limit setting vs BC1.2

Hi,

For a new product we need to implement a DCP charger and I was considering the use of the TPS2511 to have peace of mind as regards to connectivity to various phones and tablets. My question is regrading the current limit. The BC1.2 specifies a maximum current of 1.5A. What will happen if I set the current limit of the TPS2511 to (say) 1A? Will the device try to draw 1.5A leading to an OC event or (should) the device adjust to the 1A limit imposed by the TPS2511?

Note: Sorry if it may look like a simple question but I'm new to designing USB chargers.
