We use the bq24702 in 2 and 4 cell (Li-Ion) charger product for years. Have a new requirement for a 1 cell Li-Ion charger. Is there a reason it will not work? Will changing resistor values in the existing PCB so the charge V is 4.2V and proper BATDEP is set all that is needed? SLUS553E does not seem to indicate if it is ok.
