ADS7828: Reduced SCL frequency

For a temperature monitoring application we may have to reduce the clock frequency of the i2c bus (because of the "long" distance between the slaves). Does the ADS7828 support a lower clock frequency than100 kHz (let's say 50kHz)? Will the throughput frequency also be halved in this case?
