CCS/AM5728: Windows/Linux CCS Output Differences

Part Number:AM5728

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

Our team is developing for a BeagleBoard x15 using CCS v7.4.  Our main development environment is on Windows 7 (which we have developed on for 1+ years) but now we are bringing up a CI system with Ubuntu 18.04 for reproducible builds. We've replicated our Windows development environment on Ubuntu (CCS v7.4, RTOS SDK (v03.02.00.05), compiler GNU Linaro v6.3.1).

The problem we are having is that in Linux, with the same compiler and matching source versions, we are getting a different image (slightly larger) than what we're getting in Windows.  As a result, this fails our post-build activities - we have not yet profiled our system's performance for differences.

Has any one experienced this before?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I have 2 versions of ISO 122 datasheets:

- November 1993 version.

-Revised January 2015 version.

Each version haves differences :

- OUTPUT FILTER (November 1993 version - Lowpass, Sallen Key, inverted) (Revised January 2015 version - Lowpass, Sallen Key, Butterworth)

- Power Supply Recommendation (November 1993 version - Lowpass, Pi Filter) (Revised January 2015 version - Capacitor).

Why these parameters were change?

What is the most efficient assembly?

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

We are using the LP38798 regulator on plug-in boards.

Do we need additional hot-swap circuitry on the backplane to avoid voltage spikes when we plug our unpowered PCB into the power backplane?

Thanks for your reply

I am using a TPS8268090,TPS8268120 and TPS8268180 in a system in package design.  I would need the Inductor value and the output capacitor value for my power distribution calculations for each of these components.  This information is needed in order to optimize the amount of bypass capacitance in the package.  Is this information available?

Hi,

So I going to build a custom board for the OPT8241 and OPT9221. I want to measure distance and depth and create a color map (and a point cloud, if possible) like done in the Demo. I watched the training videos for selecting a processor but am still lost. What processor do you recommend for my application ?

Hi, I want to read the ADC ADS8881 of 18-bit with the CC2650 via SP.

Im stuck with the SPI code and the ADC is 18-bits, the CC2650 just can read frames of 16-bit. How can I do a two part reading?

From a fresh install of CCS v7, I see a handy selection of Device Documentation and other resources. Problem is that none of these doc links appear to work, e.g. http://www-s.ti.com/sc/techlit/SWRR154.zip

found. I've tried this from inside CCS & manually from Chrome on two PCs with the same effect. What's up, please?

DLPC3470: Recommendations for DLPC3470 compatible memory (that's not obsolete)

Part Number:DLPC3470

Hi All,

I am looking at the latest DLPC3470 data sheet (April 18), and all of the compatible memory recommendations are now obsolete, at least at Digikey.  Further, the available selections (again from Digikey) are not supported by the 3470.  For example the W25W128FW has multiple status registers which the data sheet specifically says are not supported.

Does anyone have a recommendation for flash suitable for a new product?

Thanks,

Scott

TMS320C6713B: NAN resulting from floating point match even FADCR and FMCR round mode set to 0

Part Number:TMS320C6713B

We are running a simple filter recursion equation y(n) = b0*x(n) + b1*x(n-1) + b2*x(n-2) - a0*y(n-1) - a1*y(n-2)

We had a case where a certain combination of filter coefficients cause the filter to become unstable resulting in overflow.

Under some cases, we get a filter output of infinity (0x7F800000) ... this is the expected behavior.

However, in other cases, we get a filter output of NaN (0x7FFFFFFF).  This is not expected.

We are setting the round mode in FADCR and FMCR to their default value of 0 (Round toward nearest representable floating-point number)

So the question... why could either a ADDSP or an MYPSP produce a NaN value of 0x7FFFFFFF.  Shouldn't the ALU be forcing the output to a valid floating point number (even if that number is infinity?

LP5018: Normal-mode supply current with just one channel on

Part Number:LP5018

I was wondering if there was a specification for the Ivcc of this part with just one LED channel operating. The datasheet spec's this parameter as follows:

This seems like it's saying that with each channel sinking 10mA of current through an LED at the same time, the supply current for this part would be 10mA. I was curious if anyone knew what the supply current would be with just one LED channel sinking 2-10mA.

RTOS/CC3220MODA: Cheap temperature sensing solution for CC3220MODA

Part Number:CC3220MODA

Team

I am trying to read temperature (overall system) using CC3220MODA using its ADC pin and need help in identifying the cheapest solution & one with the least components (NTC thermistor or IC based).

I have already seen the one used in CC3220 launchpad, however it seems to have too many components and a little expensive for my need (may be due to better accuracy).

I am not very concerned about the accuracy as I just need to find out whether the system overheats (certain threshold) and respond to it.

Appreciate your support.

Regards,

Zac

MSP-EXP430FR2433: UART BSL Demo is not working, is there a known issue?

$

Part Number:MSP-EXP430FR2433

When I attempt to use the UART bootloader demo the target rejects the host and does not boot load.

After reading thru slau550p MSP430FRAM Devices Bootloader document a few times and trying many times to get one MES-EXP430FR2433 launch pad to bootload a second, I have given up.

Short list of the steps I took:

  • I used the provided images in the MSP430FRBoot 1_01_00_00
  • Loaded the UART target into one launch pad, the host boot into another.
  • I crossed the RX line to TX an TX to RX between the two launch pads and a ground line.
  • Verified the target was in Bootloader mode, LED1 and 2 are on.
  • Moved the LED2 of the host to P2.1, (The documentation states to move it to 1.2, but the code seems to use P2.1), either configuration does not seem to make a difference.
  • Press S1 on the host, LED1 would flash and UART character would send at 57600bps.
  • Start with 0xAA, target would receive 0xAA in the buffer, but my logic analyzer never sees a 0xAA but does see 0x00 acks and 0x80 headers starts.
  • Length, command, and checksums do not seem to be sent correctly, per my logic analyzer.
  • Observed behavior seems to be the same, logic analyzer connected or disconnected, backchannel UARTs connector or disconnected, I have removed the RX/TX jumpers on between the eZ-FET debug prob, no change.

Has anyone else been able to get this demo to work on the MSP430FR2433?

Thanks

TPS65217: Low Voltage VDD_MPU (VDCDC2) - TPS65217CRSLR

Part Number:TPS65217

We emulated much of the Beaglebone Black schematic and firmware (TI Linux), yet our VDCDC2 is not correct - See traces below. Our voltage remains at 0.9VDC instead of the 1.35VDC that it is programmed to operate. We confirmed our firmware and it is configuring it to the 1.35VDC, yet our output drops. What should I be looking for based on waveforms below?

Thanks - Dan

Looking for a fast update rate temperature sensor

Team,

I have a customer looking for a digital temperature sensor with a fast update rate. Ideally, they would like the update rate to be sub 500us. However, update rate is not something I can adjust in the parametric search tool to examine options. Do we have any parts in the portfolio that update at this speed or better?

LP5907-Q1: Output Capacitor ESR for stability

$

Part Number:LP5907-Q1

Hello,

The datasheet calls out the output capacitor ESR specified from a range of 5mOhm to 500mOhm. << image below >>

We're looking at using a ceramic capacitor which could have ESR specified as low as 2mOhm [ 10uF X7R ceramic – PN CGA4J1X7R0J106K ].

  • Is there a stability concern in this case?
  • Also does the ESR spec apply only to the actual input/output capacitors physically located near the regulator?  We have other bypass caps on the output, but they’re located further away, downstream of some trace resistance and inductance.

Thank you, Keith

Wheatstone Bridge Resistance

$

Hi,

I am puzzled by my measurements on Wheatstone Bridge ! I measured vout of two separated 1/2 Bridges. Then I subtracted them to obtain Vout difference. Then, I measured the leg of each 1/2 Bridges as well and I calculated the Vout difference of Bridges, using the measured resistances (applying voltage divider rule). I am surprised that the measured Vout difference and the calculated Vout difference are very different. I appreciate any idea. Thanks
