Part Number:MSP430F6736

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello team,

I wanted to display an analog value on the screen (monitor) using MSP430F6736 and MSPFET. I have a MSP-TS430PZ100B board.

I want to use the internal ADC of the micro-controller and get the analog value from the analog input pin A0 and display that value on the screen.

What steps do I need to follow?

Thank you.

Hello,

I am doing SPI communication and ADC conversion (reading sin signal) in the same interrupt function. When I eliminate SPI communication my ADC conversion is working fine, I can get very good signal in 1 KHz, 10 KHz. Whenever I inserted SPI function in the same interrupt function ADC signal is distorted (please see Graph-1 and Graph-3 in the attachment) and also sign signal is read as constant for some time slot seen Figure-2  (please see in  the attachment) and  distorted sin signal other time slot (Graph-3).

I have only disabled while loop (as shown below) in the SPI function and the ADC conversion works fine. I think the problem comes from this while loop waiting time and it affects the ADC conversion time.

//while(SpiaRegs.SPIFFRX.bit.RXFFST !=1) { }

(Please visit the site to view this file)Please could you help me to solve this problem?

Thanks

Part Number:IWR1443BOOST

Ordered both a IWR1443BOOST and a IWR1642BOOST evaluation boards. The IWR1642BOOST works great. Unfortunately, IWR1443BOOST is not responsive.

When powered, only the red DS2 LED lights up on the IWR1443BOOST, not yellow DS4.

The IWR1443 chip immediately gets way to hot to touch when powered on. This does not happen on the IWR1642BOOST, even when chirping.

The IWR1443BOOST will not mount, or show any response when plugged into a computer USB. We have tried multiple PC's and USB cables.

Because our IWR1642BOOST is working fine, we believe this is a hardware issue. Please help

Hi,

We  are in the process of porting Bluetopia to STM32f4 with DFP 2.11 pack. (STM32F4 HAL DRIVER). Is there any material or guidelines available for porting the Bluetopia code with  Keil.STM32F4xx_DFP.2.11.0 ?

Is the code available with post valid and test? Is it authentic?

LMR23630: difference between LMR33620 and so forth

Part Number:LMR23630

Hello,

short simple question, because I am not capable of seeing it myself:

I have to choose a buck regulator, the one I started with LMR16010, for 0... 1A of load current. Turned out that this little IC only starts working properly with about 200 mA or higher, cannot remember right, right now.

I am using it mainly for minor currents of 10mA to 100mA, so it is basically working in sleep mode, which means a huge ripple on the output voltage, huge in the meaning 3% of 3,3V, which is about 100mV, of course this could work too, but now I did get myself a recommendation for this pretty part: LMR23630, because it is supposed to work in a rather nicley fashion, by forcing a PWM on the switching internally, so there should not be any efficiency enhancement by going into sleep mode, which is perfectly fine for me, I want low ripple and not maximum efficiency.

Now i keep on stumbling over other new? devices like the LMR33620 ( its pretty the same as LMR23620, but better EMI? ) but sadly has a whole other Pinout in the SOIC8, how come?

I would appreciate it, if someone uses those party and can name the main differences, since everything seems pretty the same, also those parts come in different output load current, that is for example 1A  and 3A,

ONLY the 3A version has the forced PWM, is that right? At least I only can find the forced version named in the datasheet LMR23630AF ( F = forced )  the other ones do not have such naming, so can I assume that the other devices work in different mannors?

And to put some measurment on the ripple at the end, about 1 to 2A load current gives about 20mVripple @ 400kHz on my oscilloscope measurments, which seems pretty insane to me, last thing I measured was the LMR16010 on 1A output current, it still gives kind of >1% output Ripple, on 3V for example around 80mV, of course those are coarse measurments, not precisly taken, just on the oscilloscope.

But to say, on the LMR16010 i had only about 8uF output cap, the LMR23630 Eval Board has MLCC 47uF parallel to 150uF alu polymer, next plan is to solder them off, to have check on the ripple in comparisson to the LMR16010.

Well, thanks for reading and maybe thanks for Your incoming advice :)

Hello

I've been working on the hid_avd_remote project from BLE_SDK 2.2.2 for the CC2650RC and I've tried to connect it to my Smartphone using the SimpleLink Starter App but I can't and, probably due to that, the remote is stuck on iddle loop. How can I proceed to get it connected or leave the iddle loop?

Thanks in advance,

TPS25910: Gate capacitance minimum

$

Part Number:TPS25910

Load switch team,

Our customer is using TPS25910 with a resistive and inductive load. They see it hit power limit very often during turn on, sometimes backing off many times and not having a predictable turn-on time.

I’m considering if it would be helpful to have a faster turn on time, so the Vout rises before the current, avoiding the power limit. They are currently testing with Cext (gate) at 1nF. The datasheet shows minimum External Capacitor, GATE is 1nF in the ROC. Other parts of the datasheet imply that the external capacitor is optional. Can this capacitor be removed to shorten turn-on time?

Thanks,

Darren

RTOS/CC2650: Porting SAP library to other MCUs (FreeRTOS)

$

Part Number:CC2650

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hello,

I am trying to add BLE connectivity to my project developed for STM32 MCU from STMicroelectronics. I would like to use the CC2650 chip (to be more precise, the CC2650MODA module) with the SNP code running on it with SAP library (or equivalent code) running on my STM32 device.

I went through the TI labs with ProjectZero for CC2650, as well as through this lab:

http://dev.ti.com/tirex/content/simplelink_academy_msp432sdk_2_10_01_44/modules/sdk_plugins/sdk_bluetooth_plugin/sdk_bluetooth_plugin.html

which explains ProjectZero example run on MSP432 processor with external CC2650 module running SNP.

So now I am trying to port the SAP library code to STM32 MCU running FreeRTOS. This looks to be not a trivial task and I am not quite experienced with the CC2650/MSP432 and TI code (based on TI-RTOS). So I am wondering if anyone could give me some advice how to make this porting easier.

For now, I have these questions:

1. Is there a description of the SAP Library code (including the NPI code). In particular, I would be interested to see some diagram of threads running and messages/events passed between those threads and the user application thread.

2. I can see that there is the same ProjectZero example (for MSP432) with the SAP library running on top of FreeRTOS instead of TI-RTOS. I tried compiling that one, but it requires FreeRTOS to be downloaded and installed separately. I installed FreeRTOS, but I failed to attach it to the project in CCS (some constants have to be re-defined?). Are there instructions on how to compile the project running on top of FreeRTOS? This example would be much better for me since I am planning to port the SAPLib to STM32 running FreeRTOS.

Thank you.

FDC1004EVM: FDC1004EVM

Part Number:FDC1004EVM

Hello there,

I am trying to read the capacitance of basic parallel plate capacitor, the capacitance between ground plate and sensor plate. It is actually a micro-structure and the gap between the ground and sensor plates changes. And this capacitive sensor is connected to FDC1004 EVM by about 1 m long coaxial cable. There are two major issues with my sensor application. Hope you give me great comments.

1) How to remove or minimize parasitic capacitance appearing in a dynamic environment? For example, when my finger touches the coaxial cable connecting the EVM and my sensor, the capacitance read by the FDC1004 EVM is changed.

2) Is it available to collect all the data points mentioned in the company datasheets (400 samples/s, 200 samples/s, and 100 samples/s)? I realized that the software working with FDC1004 EVM does not take all of the data., for example by the 400 samples/s mode, it collects only about 60 data points. Something it collects different number, not 60 points.  If it is possible, how to collect all the data points?

It is said that if this firmware "Capacitive Sensing Sample Code (Energia) v1.1 (Rev. A)" is written to the FDC1004EVM, it is available. And it must be compiled and can then be uploaded to an MSP430. However, it is a little bit hard to catch up.

Can it the code "Capacitive Sensing Sample Code (Energia) v1.1 (Rev. A)" be written to the FDC1004EVM through the GUI software, for the FDC1004EVM is composed of I2C converter based on MSP430F5528 micro-controller and FDC1004? It seems that the company website does not provide a user guide for the code.

Can you give me your comments about my questions? Your comments will be great. Thanks.

Hello,

We have a query from customer asking if the Wi-Fi module supports WPA2/Enterprise PSK 256?

The customer has tried using very long PSK string, does the Wi-Fi module really support 256bit?

I would really appreciate a quick response.

LMH1218: IBIS model parameter settings:

Part Number:LMH1218

I am noticing apparent load differences on the LMH1218 RX inputs when I simulate with Hyperlynx v9.4.2  and I select between

Slow-weak, Typical, and Fast-Strong

The typical is a much smaller well behaved eye, but choosing either Fast-Strong or Slow-Weak results is x4 taller eye and not as symmetric transitions.

I have tried replacing the LMH1218 with a 120 ohm resistor and tied it directly to the transmitter : and I get the same size eye, but time shifted for each setting.

Any ideas what may cause this behavior?

Is there any recommended diff driver & circuit for this adc, since the evm only has the transformer coupling practice.

any suggestion will be appreciated.

BQ35100: Estimating battery lifetime in percent in EOS mode

$

Part Number:BQ35100

Hello, I found this post (pasted below) which is almost the exact situation I have, but was disappointed to see there is no solution in the thread - it went private. In my case the SOH is counting down by the max of 2% each time, but that is certainly far from reality as I am using a 19Ah LiSOCl2 cell.

The cell is recovering to the nominal 3.6V between load cycles.

On wake I enable and start the gauge, then my load profile is 40-50mA for up to 2min, then a 125mA pulse for 2s, then down to 10mA while the gauge is stopped, then into low power sleep.

While awake the voltage is drawn down to 3.4 - 3.5V, during pulse its close to 3V. During gauge stop it seems the voltage recovers to about 3.5V, but doesn't get back to 3.6V until the system is sleeping.

Do I need to put the system in low power sleep during the gauge stop period to ensure the battery fully recovers? I will try this and report back. It wasn't clear to me on the datasheet the proper procedure.

To make sure I am configuring the gauge correctly, here are the steps I am doing:

  • Calibrate Voltage & Temp offsets, CC gain & delta.  The board and CC offsets seem ok for my device.
  • Write design capacity, design voltage, terminate voltage, cell count, max load
  • Set EOS mode
  • Write EOS trend detection pulse counts to 0
  • Write EOS SOH smoothing start voltage

Is there any other config I am missing?

From the forum It looks like the default ChemID is appropriate for LiSOCl2 chemistry?

Thanks!

In reply to Eric Vos24:

Eric and Alessandro,

thank you both.

I can live with an somehow incorrect SOH if it just counts down from 100% to 0% in a consistent way until EOS is reached. Regarding passivation effects we are able to provide a constant discharge pulse. With this constraints, is it necessary to get an own TI Chem ID? If yes, what must I do to get one?

In the meantime I implemented BQ35100 on my PCB and made some tests. The BQ35100 is calibrated as prescribed in the docs with the help of Battery Management Studio. In my system when issuing a BATTERY_NEW command, SOH reads 100%. Perfect! But thereafter, the SOH counts down by 1% after each measurement which definitely does not reflect the reality. I think, there is something misconfigured. What can I do to debug this issue? Or maybe I just do something wrong when starting a new battery? What do I have to do to initialize a new battery correctly?

Thank you again!

Regards,
Oliver
