DRA72XEVM: DSS DISPC Layer blending doesn't appear to work with lowest zorder layer

Part Number:DRA72XEVM

While trying to display a PNG file with transparency we have found that the transparency (via alpha blending) does not appear to be working when the image is placed on the layer that is configured to have the lowest zorder.   Simply changing the zorder of that layer via the ATTRIBUTES register and leaving all other register settings the same the transparency/blending works as expected.      We would expect to see the background color blended with the image as the format is ARGB-8888 and our test has only 1 layer active at a time.

Looking in the TRM at "Figure 11-76. DISPC Alpha Blending Architecture With Premultiplied Alpha Support"   It shows both A & RGB available for all layers 2,3,4 but layer 1 only shows RGB.  We'd like to know if this is the expected behavior of the HW or possibly something missed in our QNX display driver.

If you require more information please let me know.

Thanks

Mike

CC3200: RadioTool CW mode not working

Part Number:CC3200

I am getting no output from my custom development board when I try to generate RF in CW mode.

Using RadioTool v1.2, both GUI and CLI, with my board flashed to the radiotool board binary.

Continuous mode works but it's not very continuous, only maybe 20 percent on time.

My FCC test house tells me I need better than 98% for testing.

My board is updated to service pack 1.0.1.11.  That can't be too new, can it?

Part Number:TM4C129XNCZAD

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I would like to ask if anyone has any sample code that can help me for a Data Logging device using a TM4C129XNCZAD microprocessor.

For now, device should:

1. Read ADC values

2. Get RTC (Real Time Clock) timestamp

3. Save timestamped values into microSD

4. After repeating above steps for a certain amount of time it goes for sleep (hibernate)

Thanks,

PI Torque control (Nm) in place of the PI speed control

$

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for your time,

If I've understood correctly when I run a simple torque control in FOC (lab4/4a) the only variable I can control is the quadrature current Iq directly responsible for the torque generation.

When, instead, I use a speed controller to feed the Iq control I can regulate the speed reference based on the EST_getSpeed_krpm coming from the FAST controller.

I can see that the motor is capable to estimate the torque (expressed in Nm this time) that is applying to a certain load (gMotorVars.Torque_Nm). So I started wondering if it would be possible to substitute the speed PI controller feeding the Iq controller with a simple Torque PI controller.  An object in which the user can input the desired torque in Nm and based on the gMotorVars.Torque_Nm value the controller can estimate the right amount of current (Iq) necessary to drive the motor.

Is that feasible and simple enough to implement?

Thanks again,

Lorenzo

LM53601-Q1: Low side switch current limit

Part Number:LM53601-Q1

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask LM53601-Q1?

In case of Vin=12V and  Vout=5V/1A, Duty is =5/12 = 41.67%.
So, Low side current will be (1-0.4167) x 1A=0.583A
Of cource, we recognize it is no problem.

There is minimum on time, and then when  Minimum duty is 3.2(minimum Vout) / 42V(Vin max)= 0.92, Low side current will be 0.92A.
That's why this value(0.92) is less than Low side switch current limit Min 1A.

What case does Low side switch current limit operate?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

Dear all,

Bypass cap value for VbiasVCO2 pin is given as 10uF in the ref design. However in the pin descriptions section of LMX2594 datasheet it says: "VCO bias. Requires connecting 1 µF capacitor to VCO ground". Which value should I use?

Thanks in advance.

RTOS/CCSTUDIO-SITARA: HeapBuf alignment parameter in SYS/BIOS

Part Number:CCSTUDIO-SITARA

Tool/software:TI-RTOS

Dear TI E2E,

I am setting up a HeapBuf instance for AM335x using the SYS/BIOS app.cfg.  When using the GUI, I set the alignment=8 (because this is the worst-case structure alignment for ARM devices according to the SYSBIOS User Guide).  However, if I look at the cfgScript, the alignment=0.  I can manually change the cfgScript heapBuf.align=8, and the GUI also says 8.  If I manually change the cfgScript heapBuf.align=0, the GUI says 8.

1.  Is this expected behavior?

2.  What is correct way to setup the HeapBuf alignment parameter for the AM335x target device?

I would appreciate any additional information.  Thank you!

Part Number:BQ40Z50-R1

Hi,

I am working with a client who is using the BQ40Z50-R1 and would like to get some clarifications for the following:

"We’re trying to verify that the BQ40Z50-R1 based battery pack has been programmed correctly.  It looks like the field we want to check is the “Static Chem DF Signature.”  Please verify this.  The challenge seems to be that on the BQ-Studio tool no parameters can be read on a sealed battery.  Is this a tool feature, or a BQ40Z50-R1 feature?  In other words, can we verify that a pack has been programmed correctly after it’s been sealed, and if so how?  We’d like to do this quick check as part of the power-up-self-test."

Thanks in advance for the help,

Jerry

Part Number:BQ24773

Hello I'm newbie to BMS, sorry !

I have designed a portable audio product in which I use a raspberry Pi.

Right now I'm using on the shelf BMS board but I'm not pleased with the results.

I'm using LiFePO4 4S1P batteries and I would like to address different issues:

  1. Battery pack Charge/Discharge managment
  2. Ability to use the system with and without the external PSU
  3. Basic report of the battery pack level (very basic gauge, with a dual led : Green, Orange, Red, the LEDs could be under the Pi's GPIO control)
  4. Proper shut down of the Raspberry Pi when the battery pack is discharged (link to point 3)

I have found the BQ24773 that looks fine for this.

However I have no clue on how to make all my requests to work...

Do you confirm that BQ24773 is suitable for my needs ?

How can I get the basic status of the battery level through the I2C bus ? Do I need to add another circuit ?

ANY Schematic for my needs ?

Thank you very much for your help !

MSP430F5438: RTC_A working as timer, 0.007% rate that the calculate time is not we expected

Part Number:MSP430F5438

Hi

Could you give some more explanation about  below "asynchronous"?

My customer make RTC_A working as timer, it has 0.007% rate that the calculate time is not we expected.

The low 8bit RT0PS give +1 overflow information to high 8 bit RT1PS,  high 8bit RT1PS should be increase +1. We catch the situation that it's not increase +1, and low 8bit  RT0PS is already cleared to 0x00.

Is it caused by asynchronous clock between ACLK and MCLK? Thanks.

Champs,

Customer requires clarifications wrt few c6655 device errata:

1. Advisory 13: Single MFENCE issue. Customer does not have any assembly code of their own, uses IBL version 1.0.0.14, and the TI compiler version v7.4.11. Has this issue been taken care of in is these versions?

2. Advisory 14: Read Exception and Data Corruption Issue. Question: Is TI platform SW supposed to take care of disabling PFX bits in MARs 12-15? If not - where this should be done (boot loader/application startup)?

3. Usage Note 13: Revised PLL Programming Sequence Usage Note. Customer code is based on TI IBL version 1.0.0.14 Nov 2011, and application code makes use of  CSL Revision: 01.00.00.05. Can you confirm if this usage note is implemented in the above versions?

thank you!

SN65LV1023A: Clarifying TX and RX clock spec

Part Number:SN65LV1023A

Hi TI,

According to the datasheet for SN65LVD1023, TX clock and RX clock should be spec'd at 50ppm so maximum difference between RX and TX is 100ppm?  Or can both RX and TX use 100ppm clock sources?

Also, just wanted to confirm if we have a bit always tied high or always tied low, the receiver won't have a problem aligning to the incoming bit stream.  Is it possible that the receiver might get confused for the start of the word?

Thanks in advance!

LMZ31704: 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, and 3.3V all from 500khz?

Part Number:LMZ31704

Hi Team,

Posting for a colleague. What are your thoughts for running 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, and 3.3V all from 500khz? The concern is there is only 100mV of head room for the 1.5 and 3.3V rails. With component tolerances of 2% and line transients is there any concern for being so close to the datasheet threshold?

Thanks!

Nate

TLV320AIC34: TLV320AIC34 in TDM Mode

Part Number:TLV320AIC34

As a part of my university project I was trying to use Texas Instrument's TLV320AIC34 for receiving an 8 channel Time Division Multiplexed ( TDM ) signal sent from another CODEC and trying to capture it from 4 different TLV320AIC34s with different offset. However, before doing 8 channel directly I was trying out the same with 2 channel data using a single TLV320AIC34.

Using CRO, I am able to track that Data Input, D1 is getting the valid signal however I cannot get the audio at Head Phones. Should I make some other configurations?

I have made these configurations :

Master Clock, MCLK = 9.6 MHz

Bit Select Clock, BCLK = 12.288 MHz

Word Clock, WCLK = 48 kHz

Data Offset = 0

Clock Configuration  from AIC34 GUI:

Clock Source : MCLK

P = 1

K = 10.24

R = 1

TPS65982: I_PP_EXT not readable if in SINK mode

$
0
0

Part Number:TPS65982

Despite what the datasheet says and the user's manual says I don't think that the I_PP_EXT is readable if the external path is set up for SINK sensing.

I have a board with the TPS65982 on it and an external 5mOhm sense resistor. I have the SENSEP line of the TPS connected to the VBUS side of the resistor and the SENSEN line connected to the PP_EXT side. I then made a connection to SINK 1.5A into a power supply/sink with a 20V contract with the TI-EVM board. My connections match Figure 29 below, except that I am using a 5mOhm R. I set the TI-EVM board to switches = 6  so that it could supply 3A/5A @ 20V. I connected a external 20V laptop supply so that it could supply the 1.5A.

When I make the connection and use the Aardvark and the TI-Utilitiy to read the I_PP_EXT ADC channel, I read 0.000A on my board.  If I connect the Aardvark to the TI-EVM board, I read anywhere from 1.35A - 1.65A (it isn't very accurate, but good enough to know the current is flowing, and I can take multiple readings and average them). The TI-EVM is connected as in the HVL117D schematic below:

R5 & R3 are loaded, so it is connected as a source, with the SenseP on the PP_EXT side. The ADC read works on the TI-EVM board. I read the STATUS register on both boards, and they both said that the PP_EXT path was being used, one as an input and one as an output.

So, I wondered if there was something wrong with the ADC trying to do a SINK reading and it was ok doing source reading, since that is what I found. I verified that HI-Utility said that the TI-EVM board was in source mode and my board was in sink mode when I moved the Aardvark between them and read the registers. So, I should have been able to read the same values as the TI-EVM board when I connected the Aardvark to my board, but all I get is 0.00000A.  I have my own application that alternately reads the ADC through the I2C bus and ADC channel 3 gives an ADC reading of 0 from my board when operating as sink. I did an experiment by changing the System Config register to pretend that my sense resistor was 10mOhms and the contract quit, since this would look like an overload. So I know that the TPS65982 could check the current limit in sink mode, even it I couldn't get an ADC reading. I changed the System register back. I also wondered if the ADC readings don't work in SINK mode with a 5mOhm resistor.

To check, I then changed my board and the EVM board. I soldered wires on my board to connect SENSEP to the PP_EXT side of the 5mOhm sense R and SENSEN to the VBUS side of the sense R, so it was in a source configuration. I then moved the R5 and R3 0ohm resistors on my TI-EVM board to R2 and R6, to connect it to read current when operating as SINK. I changed the contract on my board to be a source and set up the PP_EXT supply for 20V/3A. I changed the TI-EVM board to switch setting = 7, so that it would be a SINK.

After making the contract and verifying that it connected with my board as the PD source and the TI-EVM as the PD sink, I connected the Aardvark to each board and read the I_PP_EXT channel of the ADC (#3). The I_PP_EXT ADC reading from my board said that it was sourcing about 40mA (the TI-EVM board doesn't have a big load, just the LEDs) and it had made the 20V contract. So, even with the 5mOhm resistor, I was now able to get a I_PP_EXT reading on my board, but this was with the source connection. HOWEVER, the I_PP_EXT reading on the TI-EVM board was 0.00000A! This board has the 10mOhm resistor (at least that is what the schematic says and what the System Config register says). But it wouldn't read the 40mA of current despite multiple readings of the ADC, it always reads 0.00000A. Multiple readings of my board with the source connection, range from 0.011A - 0.050A (which again, I can average). I changed the contract and supply to 12V instead of 20V since the TI-EVM in sink mode always uses the PP_EXT path, but the readings on the TI-EVM I_PP_EXT path were still 0.0A.

I couldn't think of any more experiments and I don't have an explanation for this behavior, since it seems like the SENSEP would be higher than the SENSEN connected as in Fig20 or 29 in the datasheet when in the source/sink modes. It isn't the fact that I'm using a 5mOhm sense resistor, since the TI-EVM board has the same problem when re-wired and it has a 10mOhm resistor.

All I can figure is that the ADC doesn't work properly for the ADC reading of channel 3 when PP_EXT < VBUS and SENSEP > SENSEN, but that is just a guess.

In all my measurements above, I had both the external power supply and an in-line current meter showing the current flowing, as well as the TPS65982 at the source end giving good readings from its ADC.

Is there another register I need to set to make this work? I couldn't see anything in the System Config bits that would affect this.
Can you repeat the experiments with the TI-EVM board in sink mode and using R2/R6 and get a reading?

It looks like others have had this problem, see the discussion (TPS65982: TPS65982 Sink Current read from ADC).

Perhaps the I_PP_EXT ADC value is only available when connected as in Figure 20, as referenced in section 8.3.3.11 of the Datasheet.

Thanks for any answers,
WST

Part Number:CC3200MODLAUNCHXL

Hi,

CCS version : 6.1.3.00034, TI CC3200 SDK : V1.3, CC3100_CC3200_ServicePack_1.0.1.6-2.7.0.0

I am using internal flash memory to store log files when CC3200 Wifi connection or server connection is lost. Below is the sequence of steps I am following

1. when the wifi connection is lost offline1.txt file is created and its handle is obtained
2. offline data is stored
3. when the wifi connection is restored the file handle is closed
4. after that I am opening, reading and closing one packet data from offline1.txt
5. now I have new data available to transmit and before sending data I am again disconnecting wifi
6. now new file offline2.txt is created and data is stored in it
7. again I turn on wifi
8. offline2.txt is closed
9. now trying to read offline1.txt file and its throwing error SL_FS_FILE_HAS_NOT_BEEN_CLOSE_CORRECTLY

The above steps are to take care of log files when there are multiple interruptions. I have searched in forums but couldnt find much info

Any help appreciated

James
