TLV320AIC3204: ADC is malfunctioning (probably after an input overflow)

$

Part Number: TLV320AIC3204

Hello all,

I am facing the following issue: When I attach/detach a (a properly coupled*) active microphone multiple times, the ADC produces a strong noise and it does not return to normal operationeven after re-sending the whole set of programming sequence to TLV320AIC3204 SPI port, unless we issue a software reset prior to the programming commands. Unfortunately, this reset is audible by the end user.

It seems that an ADC overflow (register P0_R42, bit 3) is detected along with the ADC malfunctioning event. However, most of the times, this overflow leads to a short-duration (a few msec) noise then the ADC returns to normal operation without any intervention. Is it possible that a simple ADC overflow is responsible for these problems? (I would expect just distortion until amplitude return to normal levels)

Best regards

*Microphone coupling is accomplished via 1uF ceramic capacitors and 1000Ohms resistors in series with IN2_L, IN_R inputs. Schottky diodes to AVDD and ground protect from ESD and surges. MIC/ADC settings:
fs = 8ksps, sample size = 16bit
Power Tune Mode = PTM_R4
Decimation Filter A
Processing Block = PRB_R1
AGC = off
Digital Gain = 0 dB
Differential input from IN2L, IN2R pins
Input resistance = 20K for both pins
Analog LDO = on, 1.77V
Digital LDO = on, 1.77V
Device CM voltage = 0.9V

Hi,

I'm planning to take JTAG control of AM4372 HS custom board we developed.

do I need to flash keys during board manufacturing stage? also should I need to send keys via program to take even JTAG control?

or for taking control via JTAG, we dont need keys? kindly clarify/confirm. It is bit urgent to know.

Thanks in advance.

TPS780: Apply voltage on the LDO output

Part Number: TPS780

Hi,

I have a question an application of this part.  It is being used to switch 1.8 and 2.8 V to power some relatively low power components, < 30 mA.  The input is a battery with voltage from 3-4.2 V.  The switching is done with an NFET below a resistor in the feedback network.

There are two use cases where 2.8 V could be applied to Vout from an external source when we program firmware to a microcontroller.  The LDO normally powers this microcontroller.

1) Vin is floating, only electrical connection is IN pin on the LDO, would be (Vout - body diode drop), Vout is set to:
1a) 1.8 V with feedback resistors
1b) " 2.8 V

2) Vin is connected to the battery, Vout is set to:
1a) 1.8 V with feedback resistors
2b) " 2.8 V

Would applying 2.8 V from an external source to the output be out of spec for any of the above cases?

It is not clear to me from the datasheet what the update rate and settling time are when you have the de-glitch feature enabled. Please advise. Thanks!

CCS/CC2640R2F: CC2640R2F BLE4 SDK crash when LL_CONNECTION_PARAMETER_REQ rejected due to "Different Transaction Collision"

Part Number: CC2640R2F

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

We are running into an issue with CC2640R2F multi-role slave. The following is a summary of our issue, as provided by the various parties, I am happy to either transmit any request or put you in contact directly.

Slave

CC2640R2F LaunchPad,

TI’s original multi_role example with SDK v.3.30.0.20. No modification.

Master:

Third party BLE master.

Summary:

<< There is a problem on SLAVE CC2640R2F which does not respond after the LL_CONNECTION_PARAMETER_REQ anymore. Before the SLAVE CC2640R2F stops to respond, there is a LL_CONNECTION_PARAMETER_REQ which is rejected by MASTER. Reason is “Different Transaction Collision”, which means there is a timing error as specified in BT SIG documentation. >>

Details:

<<

The connection runs okay for some time, w/o any data exchanged.

Then, we run into a Channel Map Request problem.

Same issue confirmed with two SDK version:

  • multi_role_cc2640r2lp_app-sdk_v_1_40_0_45.hex

  • multi_role_cc2640r2lp_app-sdk_v_3_30_0_20.hex:

v3.30 identical issue as v1.40, no differences; runs into the same channel map request problem.

We took several logs and on every log the disconnection reason is the same. After the connection, timing parameters are set as follows (ED note: this is NOT the original LaunchPad timing, but the principle and issue is the same)

Crucial parameters are connection interval and supervision timeout (if no packets from SLAVE are received in longer time, disconnection is considered to be lost and is disconnected from master).

According to these parameters, MASTER is sending packets every 105 ms and since SLAVE is not responding the link is disconnected after 2520 ms.

Before the SLAVE stops to respond, there is a LL_CONNECTION_PARAMETER_REQ which is rejected by MASTER. Reason is “Different Transaction Collision”, which means there is a timing error as specified in BT SIG documentation.

It seems there is a problem on CC2640R2F side which does not respond after the LL_CONNECTION_PARAMETER_REQ anymore.

>>(Please visit the site to view this file)

In the meanwhile I have also asked [third party MASTER] for more info on the root cause of the rejected LL_CONNECTION_PARAMETER_REQ, which might be an issue their side.

PCAP here attached.

Best regards,

Jerome

MSP430F5659: static const variable not correctly initialized

$

Part Number: MSP430F5659

Hi,

I'm seeing a strange behavior with static const variables declared in a function.

uint32_t function1 (void) {

    static const uint16_t var1 = 14000;
    static const uint16_t var2 = 2000;
    static const uint16_t var3 = 1750;

    /* Some computations */

    return computedValue;
}

If I step in these functions in Debug mode (no optimization) and add a watch expression on these variables, I get:

var1: identifier not found: var1

var2: 240

var3: 16383

If I remove the "static" from the declarations, then I get the right values:

var1: 14000

var2: 2000

var3: 1750

I thought it might just be the debugger, but the computed value actually changes if I add or remove the "static" attribute.

Is this compiler specific? I'm using TI v18.1.6.LTS, but I've also tried v18.12.2.LTS, and both had the same behavior.

Thanks,

Fred

AWR1843BOOST: Programming / Initial Setup of new AWR1843BOOST based Development Board

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST

Hello,

We have created a custom development board based on the design files provided with the AWR1843BOOST Board, but with our own custom antenna design.

Since this board contains a TM4C1294NCPDTT3 MCU from TI, I assume needs to be flashed with specific firmware. Where can I find this firmware, and how is this typically loaded onto the MCU (programmer P/N)? Does the AWR1843 need to be flashed as well as part of initial board bring up?

From the schematics, the TM4C1294NCPDTT3  and the AWR1843 look to be on the same JTAG bus, which is connected to the large header. Does the programmer need to be wired to this connector to facilitate programming?

I have looked throughout the design resources, but I can not find any resources to help with this.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi

I've been testing the F280049C controlCARD mounted on the dock over the past few days and had no issues using the debugger in CCS. I'm now running into the following error when I try to enter debug mode:

I had been following the workshop with guided lab examples and the last project I successfully built was loading a program to flash. Since then, I have not been able to launch the debugger. Can you guys help me figure out what's up? One mistake I might have made is toggling switch S1:A on the controlCARD meant to change the boot mode while the controller was powered on and connected to the PC. Could this have caused a hardware failure on the JTAG emulator? Or is this just something to do with the flash program running on the uC blocking the debugger? Sorry if I've missed anything. I'm quite new to this. Appreciate any help.

Hi Team,

When it comes to the charging of the cap with a LM3550,  is there a way to control the charge rate?
After a flash event it will be desirable for the re-charge to last as long as 1 second.
Thanks!

Part Number: LM334

Hello,

I'm working on a project review where the LM334 works as current source to bias a resistive sensor.

I'm checking several kind of new sensors, and due to the various device application parameters (and limitations), in some cases I find the LM334 working at ISet values below 1 µA, also around 0.3 µA.

Any advice or warnings about this issue?

Thank you in advance,

CCS/MSP430FR6043: Hilbert and ATOF calculation

Part Number: MSP430FR6043

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi!

I have some questions regarding Hilbert mode and ATOF calculation:

1. When the Hilbert absTOF computation mode is used, is it applied after the interpolation of the ADC signal?

2. How should I select the correct order(length) off the Hilbert coefficients? See image below for two different orders.

3. Are the UPS/DNS values calculated using the continuous slope by the Hilbert transform, or is it finding peaks from the raw signal like in the Lobe-mode? See the image below, will it select a value from the red or blue circle(or other)?

The image above shows the raw ADC signal(blue) with two different Hilbert transforms applied. Orange: filter order 12, green: filter order 30.

Thanks in advance
