ADS1210: out of input signal range

Let me ask you a basic question.

In case of inputting out of range analog signal to "Ain" pins, what will happen?

1) in case of the input is out of spec, under absolute max range.

    For example, Analog input signal is from -0.2V(>-0.3V) to 5.2V(<5.3V) at AVDD is 5V. 

2) in case of the input is over "absolute max value", under -0.3V to over 5.3V at AVDD is 5V.

    In this case, it maybe the device broken..if not broken, there maybe something degradation happened on the device.

    The input capacitor may become worse?
