TPS65400: Current Sharing with Different Vin values

Team-

We have an interesting application where we are trying to share power from different sources, Vin = 12V, and Vin = 5V.

We are converting to 3.3V, so we want to tie both buck converters (SW1, SW2) together, i.e. a single 3.3V output.

We can obviously come up with some sort of external current sense/share circuit to get these two converters to share current, however, it isn't really clear from the data sheet if we can, for instance, operate SW1 as 12V->3.3V and SW2 as 5V->3.3V, (both outputs wire-OR'ed together) and expect some level of good current sharing.

We can twist a few knobs, such as scaling the inductors appropriately given the different Vin values, but I'm still not sure what else we would need to do to get the internal sharing circuit to work.

Please comment.

Best regards, S. Dunbar, AFA Colorado
