IWR6843ISK: Thermal characteristic of mmwave SOCs and protection

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

For the mechanical / thermal characteristics of the SOC for either IWR6843 and AWR1642 chips,

1) Is it ok to run these SOCs for extended time 60min without getting too hot? Right now it is open case, but we are thinking of putting it later inside a small plastic casing.

2) We had couple of AWR and IWRs that died on us and we can't tell the reason, but in software we are getting noisy output (we can't see legitimate data at all). Then, we just order a brand new and it starts to work again. What are the possible reasons AWR/IWR can fail?

2) To be a bit preventative of failures on the heat (finger jumps out when i try to touch it), can we use a little heatsink like this one, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07217N5LS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , the small one dimension is 8.8mm x 8.8mm x 5mm?  I just worry if the heatsink (being metal) can interfere the radar signal ?

If there is a available mechanical enclosure guide for these SOC/PCBs, please forward me to it for review.

Thanks,

Jonathan Ibera
