CCS/CC1352R: Power Consumption on Custom Board

Part Number: CC1352R

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I have a custom board developed based on LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1 design files. The board has the MCU circuit with on-board SUB-1GHz (helical) antenna as well as some sensors.

I wanted to test my custom board power consumption in sleep state and compare to the LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1 board, so I used sensor_CC1352R1_LAUNCHXL_tirtos_ccs program to analyse the current when in sleep state and scanning for networks state. I supplied both board with 3.3V and this is what I got:

  1. Running the program with LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1 I get less than 100 uA in sleep state and ~7mA in scanning for networks;
  2. Running the program with my custom board I get ~1.5 mA in sleep state and ~7mA scanning for networks.
  3. Pressing the reset button current goes to around ZERO in both boards.
  4. I thought the problem could be related to the sensors, so I removed all of them from the board and the results kept the same

Questions:

Why is my custom board not going to sleep state? Does 1.5 mA mean it is not sleeping?

Is there any other way to test if it is going to sleep state?
