I am interested in a sensor application where we have been primarily looking at 802.15.4, but the ability of the cc3000 to use existing wifi infrastructure is appealing. The sensor network will require data to be sent at 5 second intervals from modules to the AP. Given this scenario, it is desirable to keep the connection active with the AP through some sort of keep-alive packet roughly every second, but we would still like to have some sort of intermediate power state where our device is not constantly listening and using a lot of energy. Does the cc3000 support this type power state or does it need to completely break its connection with the AP in order to go into a low power state?
