Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Have been performing range and AoA calibration in outdoor environment with AWR1642BOOST with minimum clutter from ground. For AoA measurement have been using Corner reflectors (CRs), of unequal RCS (one is 15 dBsqm larger than the other). Upon placing the CRs at equal range locations from the radar (5m distance) but at more than 15 degrees apart (angular separation between them) , 2Tx-4Rx beamforming mode selected, the response of only one of the CR is visible. But as soon as the range of one of the CRs is varied by slightly more than the range resolution limit, response of both the CRs are seen.
(a) Is it that the first response (only one CR seen) is observed due to the masking of the smaller CRs response by the larger CRs sidelobes (range sidelobes). If it is so, then why is it not being resolved in the AoA direction, as I assume the two operations are being performed independently. In the demo visualizer real time tuning settings Group peaks from same object, the Range direction and Doppler direction check boxes have been checked on.
(b) Also a pedestrian at the same range as the CRs is being resolved at finer angles of separation.
With this dilemma how to go about the AoA determination?
