Tool/software: Code Composer Studio
Win7 32bit.
What real advantages does Code Composer Studio v8 have over v6?
As far as I can tell, this seems to be a backward step in a couple of areas.
#1, the rts library v 18.1.3.LTS is almost twice as big as v 6.4.6 and offers no real advantage (please correct me if I am wrong.) I actually replaced the newer version with the one from v6.
#2, the build doesn't seem to work reliably.
When I click on the hammer 1 of 3 things may happen:
2a) it may build as expected 50% of the time
2b) it may delay a long time (30 seconds or more) before building maybe 30% if the time.
2c) nothing may happen at all maybe 20% of the time.
In all cases, I see the cursor change from an arrow to a spinning circle indicating I have actually clicked the icon.
This never happened in V6.
#3, the colors in the register window when a value gets changed don't change to the highlighted color most of the time. Sometimes, maybe 10% of the time, all the values will show with highlighted colors. It's just buggy.
Unless there is a compelling reason to stick with v8, I think I will go back to 6. It just seemed a lot faster overall.
Thanks, Mark.
