Part Number: TMS320F28388D
We currently are using the TMS320F28379D but need Ethernet connectivity in production. We are currently using an OMAP for that role (ethernet connection for Delfino data) but it is way over powered and costly and we have several other designs in the queue that need simple Ethernet connection without too much complexity and/or cost. So the new Delfino (TMS320F28388D) seems very promising.
I have a couple of questions to start:
- Is there TI Sys-Bios support now? The TMS320F28388D website does not specifically state this (no mention of sys bios, rtos, etc) and I cannot find anything in the data sheet or tech reference manual that indicates so. We are using TI's SYS BIOS in the omap and have it functioning with our machine design at the system level so this would really aid us if TI is ready with software support on the new ethernet connected delfino.
- The evaluation card (TMSDSCNCD28388D) website does not seem to point to any schematics and/or design documents and its info guide provides very little info. For example, it shows two RJ45 connectors for the Ethercat peripheral, and another RJ45 for an Ethernet connection with no description of how the Ethernet connector is used by the control card and/or user. There does not seem to be any user guide, just an info guide (more of a quick start manual).
- EtherCat:
- We appreciate the low cost of owership potential for using just the Ethercat peripheral on the new delfino. Does TI have any Bootloader support over EtherCat? I installed the C2000 software and have been through the HAL API and evaluation code and see nothing pointing to how to boot over EtherCat. Ethercat has many potential advantages for us and I'm sure we can develop our own methods, but we'd prefer to leverage existing examples to improve time to market and gain confidence in the support of the product.
- We have many applications for Ethercat that seem to fall into its sweet spot. But we also need to stream data and would like to understand whether it is capable of this in TI's instantiation. We need to transmit 3 of the delfino's 16-bit ADC's simultaneously sampling at 500KSPS. This is 24 Mbits per second. Can the Ethercat connection (driven by the Arm Cortex M4) support this data stream continuously over Ethercat? That is, does TI have any test data on throughput?
- What is the production release schedule for the part?
Thanks in advance for your support
