Part Number:TPS40057
Hi,
In the datasheet it's said TPS40055 and TPS40057 can operate in two quadrant.
1. Does it mean that the current can flow from input to output and also from output to input?
2. How can it achieve this? There is no DIRECTION pin.
3. When current is flowing from output to input, it can be seen as a boost converter, right? How will the device regulate the input voltage?
4. The only difference is that TPS40057 can work with prebiased output. Does the prebiased output means the output is powered before the input is powered?
For example, I need to convert 15V input to 12V output. When the output is powered to 8V for some reason, and after that 15V input is powered up, TPS40057 will then regulate the output to 12V, but TPS40055 cannot handle this case, right?
My customer need to make a bidirectional buck converter from 15V to 12V, 400W. Is this device the most suitable one? How large power rating can this device achieve? I can't find drive current data in the datasheet.
