CCS/TMS570LC4357: How can I use the ADC module to sample the voltage a pin is putting out, and then store that value in a variable?

Essentially what the title says. I'm looking to generate a signal, then take the value of the voltage and keep it as a variable that I can manipulate as if it were an integer or some sort of number.
