TLC5958: Thermal pad footprint

I am using TLC5958 48 pin channel component for my application. In datasheet they had mentioned like thermal vias, whether i need to create a thermal via in the footprint for the component orelse just create a thermal pad with dimension they mentioned .

please clarify it
