Part Number:TPS65982
Hi Team,
In an UFP application designed by my customer, they do not need power over type C from the DFP and will only need the DP alternate support. They also do not need the dead battery support.
In this case, can we leave the VBUS pin floating? From my understanding, this should be OK since VBUS is not sourcing power to the 982. However, I am not sure if it's needed anywhere in the PD negotiation.

Now, they are also planning to do a spin of this design where the product will act as a DRP. Given that it may source power, they are thinking to reserve a TPD1S514-1 in their current design, and make it be default-off. They plan to use the GPIO event (CONSUMER_PROVIDER_EVENT) to turn the TPD1S514-1 on when configured as DFP(provider); and turn off the TPD1S514-1 when configured as UFP (like what they are designing now).
P.S. They will connect the VBUS pin in this case.
Do you think that's appropriate?
Thanks!
