BQ28Z610: measuring the charge level of a 2-cell series battery pack (8.4V)

Team, 

is it possible to use BQ28Z610 as a Coulomb counter for measuring the charge / capacity level (not balancing) of a battery stack formed as:

a) 2 series connected Li-ION 4.2V cells in 18650 package - the only difference is that they are visible / form one battery, 8.4V is seen

If that's possible, how to do that?
