I have a system with the pcm179x (8 or 4a) DAC chip, with the op-amp output stage as shown in the datasheet (considering using 3x opa2312). This will lead to a power-amp which uses up to almost 3A at 13.5-14.5V. The DAC chip uses 5V and 3.3V which I can get pretty easily, but the op-amps require a +/- voltage up to +/-15V (best performance).
How would you recommend tackling this? I could use an AC-DC supply at 13.5-14.5V, and use this directly for the power amp, and the positive rail of the op-amps? If so what chip could i use to invert the voltage (-13.5:-14.5)? Or would using say a 24V supply be required, and regulating both the + and - ??. Simply, what is the most sane (cost-effective) way of fulfilling my needs?
