ADS1299-4: ADC speed

When you specify the data rate for a DAC, its obvious for circuits that it is the total data rate for all channels (for instance ADS1260, it has only 1 ADC).  ADS1299-4 on the other hand has 4 converters and up to 16 kSPS, does this mean 4kSPS or 16kSPS per channel?
