I am going to get started with TMS570 microcontrollers. Microcontrollers from TMS570LS20x/10x family will be used for current project. TMS570LS10106-PGE, TMS570LS10216-PGE and TMS570LS20216-PGE devices are suitable for project requirements.
As I understand, Code Composer Studio and HalCoGen software can be used. Is Code Composer Studio free available for TMS570LS microcontrollers? At the moment free version of the CCS is used for MSP430 microcontrollers programming. But max code size is limited at 16kB. Can this software be used for TMS570LS?
The second question is as follows: How is a code downloaded to the chip? Is a special programmer available for these microcontrollers? Is MSP-FET430UIF programmer for MSP430 also suitable for TMS570LS devices? I took a look on TMDX570LS31USB (TMS570LS31x Hercules USB Stick Development Kit). It features an integrated XDS100v2 JTAG emulator. What does this mean? Can this kit be further used as a programmer?
