CCS/TMS320F28069: XDS200, UART not working

Part Number:TMS320F28069

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi there,

Since few month I'm working with the XDS200 from Spectrum Digital. I can flash and debug several boards inside CCSv7 like the CC2640 Launchpad (BLE) or a custom-made board with TMS320F28069 (C2000 series), but until today I never got the UART working thus receiving something with System_printf() (and System_flush() afterwards) or any other UART transfer.

With the CC2640 Launchpad I have to connect a separate UART-USB converter to get the UART working if I use the XDS200. With the on-board XDS110 I don't need the UART-USB converter, it is working as expected. The same happens with the customer board (F28069) and JTAG interface.

Is there any project related to these processors or test function inside CCS that checks the UART connectivity? I suppose that either the debugger configuration is wrong or incomplete nor the XDS200 can't communicate over the UART interface. Additional, if the XDS200 is connected, in Windows10's Device Manager I obtain 2 additional serial COM-ports related to the XDS200, one XDS2xx Emulator CDC Serial Port (COM 8) and a XDS2xx USER CDC Serial Port (COM9). If the onboard XDS110 is connected (CC2640 Launchpad) I get also two serial connections, one XDS110 Class Application/User UART (COM4) and a XDS110 Class Auxiliary Data Port (COM6).

Has someone an idea how to solve this issue? As mentioned above, erasing, flashing and debugging is no problem at all.

Regards,

Klaus
