Part Number:DRV8841
I am working on a project that requires driving 4x solenoids at 24V (1.58A each). I was originally interested in the DRV103 for the PWM operation that conserves power while the solenoid is powered. However, I came across a TI app note (SLVA460) that discusses using a DRV8841 to drive a solenoid. It looks like this is a cheaper option because I can use 2x DRV8841 as opposed to 4x DRV103 (and the DRV8841 is cheaper according to the TI website). I was also planning on configuring the DRV103 as a high-side switch, so I no longer need the high-side FET with the DRV8841.
Can I configure the "Current Chopping" functionality of the DRV8841 to mimic the PWM operation of the DRV103? It sounds like they are similar, but I wanted to make sure. Also, are there any recommendations on how to set the "Decay" pin for this application?
