Unknown device ( MSP430F6438 connected by MSP-FET430U100C

Hi,

      I just bought a MSP-FET430U100C and insert the 6438 chip into it.

     Right now the laptop can recolonize the device, but when I try to load the code into the chip, the code composer V5 shows Unknown device after I click the debug button.

     Another question I have is along the kit, there is a micro crystal. where should I put the crystal or it is a backup?

     I used to use a EZ430, but I need another MSP430 and switched to a FET emulator.
