TMS320C6678: EMU0/EMU1 and direction

Hi team,

We had a customer that is looking to confirm a few things about EMU0/EMU1. From what I can find these aren’t totally essential for standard debugging. Can you help confirm that and comment about the directional question brought up?

"

The 14 pin JTAG nets are routed to an onboard debug connector, and buffered to a VPX backplane. The EMU0/1 pins are routed to both connectors, but are not buffered when they go to the backplane. This works, but for compliance with the VPX switching levels I would like to level translate these signals from 1.8 to 3.3V.

Do I need to include the EMU pins for basic debug purposes, or can I omit these connections to the backplane and use only the primary JTAG signals?

EMU0/1 are labeled bidirectional, but the dev board schematic drives these signals from directional sources, and the JTAG pod that we have uses direction controlled voltage translators, do these need to be bidirectional, or can we control direction via GPIO or some other means?

"

Thanks in advance for the help,

Billy
