ADS52J90: Register control of SYNC (via reg_74 offset 0x4A "TX_SYNC_REQ" )

Part Number:ADS52J90

I have multiple ADC devices in our system and currently synchronize them all globally via the hardware input pin "SYNC" on each device.  Occasionally some ADC do not sync properly and we prefer to just re-initialize that device and just go through the normal sync process via register control of that device rather than using the SYNC input pin, which is fanned out globally to all devices in our system.

Going by the description in the register map, bit[12] of register 74 (offset 0x4A) "TX_SYNC_REQ"  will presumably do exactly what we need.

However, after configuring all the ADC registers as usual, I have tried setting and resetting this bit to mimic the operation of the external "SYNC" pin input and there seems to be no effect on the operation.

Does this feature work? or is there some other bit(s) in another register that need to be configured first as well. Note the SYNC input is in the de-asserted state.

Thanks for your prompt response.
